HTML BOX SCOREBLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to second-ranked West Chester on Saturday in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) matchup.
The Huskies controlled field position in the early going getting four penalty corners in the opening 10 minutes of action, but could not convert any of the chances into a score.
West Chester came back and broke through late in the first half when Mary Spisak dribbled through the middle and drilled home a shot for a 1-0 lead.
The Golden Rams registered six penalty corners in the first 15 minutes of second half and on its sixth try got a goal from Rachal Toppi with Alexis Versak getting the assist.
Bloomsburg got on the board in the 60
th minute when
Geneka Mahan (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) took a pass from
Tess Shelly (New Cumberland/Cedar Cliff) and beat the West Chester goalie to make it 2-1.
West Chester put the game out of reach in the 68
th minute when the duo of Toppi and Versak connected again with Toppi getting the goal.
Bloomsburg is now 6-7, 2-3 in the PSAC, while West Chester is 10-2, 3-2 in the PSAC. The Huskies visit Seton Hill on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
