BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team lost a tightly-contested game, 1-0, to Millersville on Saturday in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) matchup.

The Marauders controlled the action in the early going getting three shots in the first seven minutes, only to see one go wide and the other two saved by Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin). Millersville would have two penalty corners right before halftime, but were unable to produce a scoring chance as the Husky defense would hold strong and keep the game scoreless at the break.

The Marauders, who were ranked number one in the country entering the contest, would finally get on the board in the 39th minute off of a goal by Olivia Hershey from 10-yards out. Cassel and the rest of the Bloomsburg defense would prevent another score, but were unable to find the back of the cage on the offensive end.

Millersville would end up with 12 shots on goal and 13 penalty corners, while Cassel finished the game with 11 saves. It marked the fifth time this season she has made double-digit saves.

Bloomsburg is now 7-8, 3-4 in the PSAC, while Millersville is 14-1, 6-1 in the PSAC. The Huskies will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to face IUP at 4:00 p.m.
