Austin Transue (Langhorne/Neshaminy) scored one goal and assisted on a second to lead the Bloomsburg University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday in a Homecoming game.
Bloomsburg dominated the first half of play holding a 12-2 edge in shots on goal, but Mountain Cats keeper Nate Kleya kept the game scoreless making five saves.
In the second half the Huskies finally broke through with
Kenny Herrmann (Langhorne/Neshaminy) tapping the ball in off a double assist from Transue and
Stephen Pieri (Chalfont/Central Bucks South) in the 56
th minute of play.
Transue make it a 2-0 game with a goal in the 70
th minute when he fought off a defender and slipped the ball past Kleya. From there the Huskies defense limited UPJ to just three shots the remaining 20 minutes with goalie
Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall/Whitehall) making two saves in that time.
For the game Bloomsburg held a 28-9 edge in shots and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Bloomsburg is now 11-3, 6-2 in the PSAC, while UPJ falls to 1-13, 0-8 in the PSAC.
The Huskies visit East Stroudsburg on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
