MacKenna Mahan (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) scored two goals to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 2-0 win over IUP on Wednesday afternoon in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) game. The win keeps the Huskies in the hunt for the sixth and final PSAC playoff spot with two games to play.

Bloomsburg controlled the offensive attack in the early going getting two penalty corners and two shots on goal, but no scores, in the opening eight minutes. Then in the 12
th minute Mahan collected a loose ball in front of the cage and banged it home from 12-yards out for 1-0 lead.

IUP came back with some offensive pressure getting a couple of penalty corners in the 31
st minute. One shot by McKenzie Noll hit the post to keep it a 1-0 game, which was followed by save from Bloomsburg goalie
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) on a penalty stroke attempt by Kalista Gioglio to keep the home team off the board.

Then with time running out in the first half Mahan again found herself in front of the cage and poked home a shot from seven yards for a 2-0 advantage.

In the second half of play neither team did much offensively with the teams combining for just two shots on goal in the final 35 minutes.

Cassel finished with three saves to earn the win in goal. For Mahan, her two goals were the third and fourth scores of the season.

Bloomsburg is now 8-8, 4-4 in the PSAC, while IUP falls to 5-9, 3-5 in the PSAC. The Huskies visit Mercyhurst on Saturday at noon.
