Box Score HTML BOX SCORE

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team defeated West Chester, 1-0, at Steph Pettit Stadium on Saturday afternoon

The Huskies had several scoring chances in the game's opening minutes, including shots from Mike Bamford (Doylestown/Central Bucks West) and Austin Transue (Langhorne/Neshaminy), but were unable to convert them into a goal. In the 16th minute Transue took the ball 50-yards on a breakaway and beat the goalkeeper to give Bloomsburg a 1-0 lead. The score would remain 1-0 heading into halftime after some physical play between the two teams.

The second half would feature more physical play and some West Chester scoring chances, but the Golden Rams were denied time and again by Jared Ott (Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan). In the final two minutes West Chester had three shots inside the 18-yard box but were unable to tie the game.

Ott finished the game with five saves to earn his fourth shutout of the year.

The Huskies outshot West Chester 16-8 for the game, and held a 5-2 lead in corner kicks.

Bloomsburg, 12-4, 7-3 PSAC, will host West Virginia Wesleyan in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
