HTML BOX SCOREEAST STROUDSBURG—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team saw its 2015 season come to a close on Friday after a 1-0 loss to Millersville in the semifinals of the 2015 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Championships hosted by East Stroudsburg University.
The Huskies dropped two games this season to the Marauders, losing both games by scores of 1-0.
Before the game the Huskies
Sam Peters (Harrisburg/Mifflin County) was honored for being the PSAC Champion Scholar at the championships. Peters has a 3.98 GPA in nursing.
In today's game the Marauders scored in the game's first minute when Millersville's Arianna Grays was awarded a penalty stroke 56 seconds into play. Margaret Thorwart then delivered a shot past Bloomsburg goalie
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) for a 1-0 lead.
Millersville kept the pressure on the Huskies offensively getting off seven shots in the first half with Cassel, a second team All-PSAC selection, making four saves in the opening 35 minutes.
On defense the Marauders were equally tough limiting the Huskies to just one shot on goal and one penalty corner for the game. The lone shot though was blocked keeping it a 1-0 game.
Overall, Millersville held an 11-1 edge in shots and a 12-1 margin in penalty corners. Cassel ended up with six saves for the Huskies.
Millersville goes to 18-1 with the win, while the Huskies end the year at 10-10.
