Kayla McHale (Dillsburg/Northern) blasted a two-run homer and sophomore
Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run) pitched a two-hit shutout to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a 3-0 win over No. 18 Indianapolis on Wednesday. In the day's opening game Bloomsburg beat Southern Connecticut State, 10-2, as the Huskies wrapped up the Florida portion of its spring break trip.

In the game with Indianapolis the teams were trading zeroes on the scoreboard until the top of the fifth inning. In the top of the fifth
Holly Peacock (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) led off with a walk with
Abbey Remley (Berwick/Berwick Area) coming in to pinch run. McHale then followed with a two-run blast, her second home run of the week, putting the Huskies on top 2-0.

The Huskies added to the score in the top of the sixth. With two outs
Anna McElroy (Jessup/Valley View) tripled and later scored on a wild pickoff attempt when the throw went into left field allowing McElroy to score.

Indianapolis' best scoring chance came in the third inning when the Greyhounds put runners on second and third with two outs. Parker, though, worked out of the jam getting a strikeout and a fly out to end the frame.

Parker was dominant from that point on retiring the final 12 batters she faced, including striking out the side in the fifth inning. Parker fanned 10 for the game and walked two.

In the opener
Natalie Quinlan (Drexel Hill/Upper Darby) went 2-4, scored three runs and drove in two to lead the Huskies to the win.

With the Huskies on top 1-0, Quinlan pushed the Huskies lead to 3-0 with a two-run blast in the third inning with
Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) scoring ahead of her.

Later with the Huskies on top 7-2, the Huskies added three runs in the top of the seventh to push the lead to 10-2.
Bridget Casey (Perkasie/Pennridge) had a two-run double as the big hit in the inning.

Tomaschick picked up the win going five innings, while striking out four and walking two.

Bloomsburg will play at Coker (SC) on Friday at 10 am.
