NCAA Tournament Opening Tip Overview
-The Huskies have reached the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year. Bloomsburg has accomplished that feat just one time previously in school history, reaching the national tournament in four consecutive years from 1989-92.

-Bloomsburg is making its 10th trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies are 8-9 all-time in the NCAA Tournament – 4-5 in the first round; 3-0 in the second round and 1-3 in the regional final. Bloomsburg is 0-1 in the national quarterfinals.

-Last year saw the Huskies make a run to the Atlantic Regional Championship Game and a spot in the national Sweet 16 after scoring wins in the first and second rounds, breaking an NCAA Tournament win drought that dated to 2001. As a No. 4 seed last year, Bloomsburg defeated Virginia State, 75-57, in last year's first round and then upset host Glenville State, 91-78, in the second round before falling to Edinboro, 82-76, in the regional final.

-First round opponent Gannon and Bloomsburg have never previously met in the NCAA Tournament. The two teams do have recent postseason history, however – Gannon scored a 57-51 PSAC semifinal win over Bloomsburg last season and the Huskies captured the 2013 PSAC Championship with a 74-57 victory vs. the Lady Knights. Gannon is making its 11th trip to the NCAA Tournament and owns a 13-10 record.

-The Huskies are seeking their first NCAA Tournament win over a PSAC team since 2001 when BU defeated West Chester in the second round, 91-87. Since, the Huskies are 0-4 against PSAC teams with a 76-75 loss to Shippensburg in the 2001, back-to-back first round setbacks to IUP in 2012 (77-76) and 2013 (72-59) and last year's regional final vs. Edinboro (82-76).

-All five of the Huskies regular starters have NCAA Tournament experience.

-Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) was named to last year's Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team after averaging 16.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and shooting 60 percent (21-of-35) from the floor in three games. Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) averaged 8.7 points and 4.3 rebounds last year including 11 points in each BU's first and second round wins; Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) scored in double figures in all three tournament games last year, averaging 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds. Taylor Kaminski (Philadelphia/Archbishop Wood) scored what was then a career-high 10 points in BU's first round win over Virginia State and Erica Maciejewski (Red Lion/Red Lion) contributed eight points and four rebounds in the Huskies' upset semifinal win over Glenville State.

-Ford and Simmons each saw time off the bench in the 2013 first round loss to IUP and Simmons also saw action in the 2012 first round game.

-Taylor Maldonado (Stroudsburg/Allentown Central Catholic) came off the bench for Florida Southern in the 2011 South Regional and then was a starter for the Mocs in FSC's 2012 South Regional run, making the semifinals both years. She scored seven points with seven assists in a 2012 first round win over Florida Tech and then scored 10 points with six rebounds in a second round loss to Valdosta State. In all, Maldonado has played in four NCAA Tournament games.

-First round opponent Gannon finished third in the PSAC West (18-4) and went 3-4 against teams in the NCAA Tournament this season. Gannon is not a stranger to pulling an upset as a No. 6 seed – the Lady Knights knocked off No. 3 Johnson C. Smith, 61-50, at Edinboro in 2012.

-Gannon went 13-1 at home this season, but just 8-6 away from its Hammermill Center in Erie.
