No. 20 Huskies Sail To Third Straight Win, 14-6, at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team sailed to its third consecutive victory on Tuesday afternoon, 14-6, at Shippensburg under sunny skies.

The 20th-ranked Huskies (3-2, 2-0 PSAC) dominated the first half to set the tone. Reigning PSAC Athlete of the Week Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) scored unassisted just over two minutes in, and 45 seconds later Carly Ball (Lansdale/North Penn) scored off a free position shot. Morgan Sherriff (Downingtown/Coatesville) gave Bloomsburg a quick 3-0 lead at the 24:43 mark after taking a pass from Brigid Kyne (Newtown Square/Marple Newtown) and depositing it in the back of the net.

Shippensburg (2-5, 0-2) got on the board with a goal from Garrie Grenfell with 23:48 left in the first half, but Bloomsburg responded with the next two scores as Kyne found the net following an assist from Falk and Patrice Coleman (Media/Penncrest ) then delivered another goal with Falk assisting once more.

The Huskies took a 10-3 lead into halftime after outshooting Shippensburg by a 21-6 margin during the opening period as goals from Tracy Rusen (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West) cemented Bloomsburg's first half dominance.

Ball opened the second half scoring with her second goal of the day following an assist from Sherriff for an 11-3 lead and Bloomsburg never looked back. Ball tallied another second half goal for a hat trick while Kyne also found the net again and Allison Campbell (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) scored her first goal of the year.

Falk led the way with four goals and four assists and took over sole possession of fourth place in the all-time Huskies record books with 170 career goals. Ball scored three times and Kyne twice.

Brittney Hegarty (Rochester/Rush Henrietta) made eight saves to earn the win for the Huskies.

Shippensburg's Ally Frymoyer turned away 11 shots in net.

Bloomsburg is next in action at Gannon on Friday.
