BU looks to build off a 28-19 record from one year ago that included an 18-10 mark in the PSAC that earned them berths in both the PSAC and NCAA regional tournament.
Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run) earned PSAC East Freshman of the Year, playing a huge part both in the circle and the infield.
Kayla McHale (Dillsburg/Northern) and
Erika Yanora (Tunkhannock/Tunkhannock) give the Huskies three all-conference returners.
SCOUTING NORTHERN STATESo far in 2015, the Wolves have put up a 4-2 mark despite several cancellations due to the foul weather that has plagued the East. They opened their season splitting a double header with Minnesota Duluth. The win sent them on a four-game win streak before they dropped an 8-5 contest to Drury. Through six games, the Wolves are led offensively by senior catcher Eryn Yancy, who is hitting an astounding .471. She also leads the team in RBI's with eight. In the circle, sophomore Missy Elkins has appeared in four games including three starts and has compiled a 1.94 earned run average.
SCOUTING #15 WINONA STATEThe Warriors have only one blemish on their record coming into this road trip, streaking to an 8-1 record and a top-25 ranking. They began the season winning seven straight before dropping a 1-0 decision to Grand View College. At the plate, they are paced by senior outfielder/pitcher Ashley Walker, who is clubbing a .467 average in the early goings. Walker also leads the pitching staff, bringing in a 3-0 record with a 0.91 ERA in four starts.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN INDIANAThe Screaming Eagles have a perfect 6-0 mark entering the week, and look to continue streaking over spring break. Junior utility player Janna Green has started all six games and has racked up a .526 batting average on the season. Three-time all GLVC senior Brooke Harmening leads the Screaming Eagles pitching staff, picking up four wins in four starts and tallying a near-spotless 0.75 ERA.
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF CHARLESTONThe Golden Eagles came into the year being picked to finish fourth in the MEC, and so far they have tallied a 3-1 record. Sophomore Rachelle Toppings had an outstanding freshman campaign as a utility player. She led the team in batting average (.393) and appeared in 33 games including 21 starts. Senior Morgan Aquirre returns to the circle after posting a 14-9 record and a team-best 2.27 ERA.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATELike the Huskies, the Owls have yet to play a game in 2015. They do have several key returners, back from a 19-18 overall campaign with a 9-12 mark in the Northeast 10. Senior catcher/infielder Nicole Buch started all 34 games and clubbed a .410 batting average. Junior Yesenia Evaristo paced the Owls in the circle in 2014, compiling a 12-7 record and a 2.23 ERA in 21 appearances including 17 starts.
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLISThe Greyhounds have played six games so far in 2015, going an even 3-3 after starting the season as part of the national Top 25. Junior outfielder Erika Goodwin has started all six games and racked up a .389 average with six runs scored. Junior pitchers Morgan Foley and Coryn Tarpik have logged the majority of the innings on the young season. Each with three starts and five total appearances, Foley owns a 3-2 record and a dazzling 1.44 ERA, while Tarpik displays an 0-1 record and a 4.90 ERA.
