CHARLESTON BOX SCORECLERMONT, FL—The Bloomsburg University softball team split a pair of games on Monday beating Charleston, 8-7 in nine innings, while losing to Southern Indiana, 5-2.

In game two of the day against the U of C Eagles, the Huskies wasted little time getting on the board with
Kayla McHale (Dillsburg/Northern) leading off the bottom of the first inning with a solo homer. After the two next batters were retired
Taylor Parker (Dewart/Warrior Run) went deep making it a 2-0 game.

Charleston rallied with two runs in the fourth, two in the first and one more in the seventh to take a 5-2 lead going to the bottom of the seventh.

Bloomsburg tied the game in bottom of the seventh, again using the long ball. With one out Lindsey Nemeth singled then moved to second when Parker drew a walk. Erica Yanora then hit a three-run blast to tie the game at 5-5 and forcing extra innings.

Using the tie-breaker rule each team scored once in the top of the eighth inning to force a ninth inning. In the top of the ninth Charleston again pushed across a run to go on top 7-6. In the bottom of the ninth the Huskies got two runners on when
Lea Rehm (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) singled scoring the tying and winning runs.

Parker picked up the win going the distance for the Huskies.

The day started with loss to Southern Indiana. The Huskies allowed nine hits and committed five errors. Offensively McHale went 2-4, wile Rehm was 2-3 with a run scored.

Bloomsburg, 1-3, is idle on Tuesday.
