Box ScoreKUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team swept past host Kutztown on Wednesday afternoon, 8-0.
The Huskies improve to 4-7 overall and are 3-1 in the PSAC East, owning sole possession of second place in the divisional standings.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of
Caitlin Flynn (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove) and
Aida Diop (Allentown/Emmaus) defeated Vicki Norman and Emily Wesolski by an 8-2 score.
Samantha Smith (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) and
Meredith Endy (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) blanked the Golden Bears team of Jess Caples and Caitlin Davis, 8-0.
Lindsey Tennis (Quakertown/Quakertown) and Catherine Garrity won by default at No. 3.
Smith and Endy posted the most dominanst win in singles, with Smith taking the No. 4 match over Jess Caples by a 6-1, 6-0 tally and Endy also winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 over Davies. Tennis won at No. 1 singles over Jess Burnes, 6-3, 6-0; Flynn defeated Vicki Norman, 6-2, 6-0; Diop also won by forfeit.
The Huskies are next in action Saturday, taking on Shippensburg and Cheyney at the Burt Reese Tennis Center.
