HTML BOX SCOREBLOOMSBURG – The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over Holy Family University in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night.
Â
Bloomsburg wasted little time scoring getting its first goal in the second minute of play.
Jenna Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) took the ball down the left side and took a shot that hit the Tigers goalie and getting past her. The ball hit the post where
Ashley Sanchez (Lyndhurst/DePaul Catholic) came in for the easy tap in.
Â
The Huskies then turned up the defensive pressure keeping the ball in its offensive zone for much of the first half.
Â
That constant pressure finally resulted in a second goal when freshman
Allie Barber (Pittston Twp/Pittston Area) took the ball to the baseline and let go a shot. The ball was initially stopped by the Holy Family goalie, but could not be controlled. Barber never gave up on the play and went after the loose ball and drilled a shot that hit the back of the net.
Â
In the second half the Huskies limited the Tigers to just two shots on goal and, for the game, held a 19-4 edge in shots.
Â
Bloomsburg goes to 4-3 on the year and will host California (Pa) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
