MILLERSVILLE, Pa.- On a cold night outside, the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team suffered a cold night shooting the ball inside as it fell to Millersville University, 72-41, on Wednesday night in PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Eastern Division matchup.

The Huskies shot just 23.5 percent (13-55) from the floor for the game, including just 12.5 percent (3-24) from 3-point range. Millersville meanwhile shot 52.8 percent (28-53) from the field.

Bloomsburg (9-6, 6-5 PSAC East) struggled from the start falling behind 6-0 in the first minute of play before Alex Ross (Lancaster/Manheim Township) scored for the Huskies 1:23 into the game. The Marauders (9-6, 6-6 PSAC East) though outscored Bloomsburg 13-3 the remainder of the period and led 19-7 after the first 10 minutes with the Huskies hitting just 3-13 from the floor.

The Huskies mounted a comeback in the second period and briefly narrowed the lead to seven, 21-14, on a Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) 3-pointer with 6:50 left in the half. Hopkins proved to be Bloomsburg's offense in the first half as she scored 15 consecutive points after Ross' opening basket.

While Bloomsburg struggled offensively, the Marauders stretched their lead to 33-17 by halftime with Yasmin Cooper scoring 11 points.

In the third period Millersville used a 13-2 run over the first 6:30 to go on to top 46-19 and led by that 27-point margin going to the fourth.

Millersville used a 6-0 run to begin the fourth period to take its biggest lead of the game at 60-27 with 8:14 to play and went on to a 31-point win.

Hopkins finished with 19 points shooting 7-11 from the floor and 4-6 from the free throw line. Julia Gantz (Havertown/Archbishop John Carroll) added five points off the bench.
