DOUBLE DIGITS AGAIN ...Saturday's win over Lock Haven was Bloomsburg's tenth win of the season - the eighth straight season that the Huskies have won at least ten games. The last time Bloomsburg did not win ten games was in 2007-08 when it went 8-19 under head coach Tammy Millsaps. Current head coach
Bill Cleary took over in 2008-09 and has won at least ten games every season.
THE CHEYNEY SERIES ...Bloomsburg leads the all-time series with Cheyney, 47-14, and has won ten straight meetings between the two schools. Cheyney's last victory over Bloomsburg came on February 6, 2010 - a 71-61 win over the Huskies at Nelson Field House. During the Huskies' ten-game winning streak against the Wolves, Bloomsburg is averaging 82.6 points per game on offense while Cheyney is averaging only 48.2 points per game.

SCOUTING CHEYNEY ...Cheyney enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-14 overall record and an 0-12 mark in the PSAC Eastern Division standings. The Wolves have lost seven straight after picking up their only two wins of the season on December 11 (51-48 over Virginia State) and December 14 (60-59 over Wilmington). Cheyney is averaging a PSAC-low 54.1 points per game on offense while shooting a PSAC-worst 33.7% from the field. Defensively, the Wolves are 16th in the PSAC, allowing 69.4 points per game. The game will be a battle of the two worst rebounding teams in the conference - Bloomsburg is 17th (-5.3 per game) and Cheyney is last (-5.8 per game). Kyra Hines-Allen leads the Wolves in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game. She is also the best shooter on the team, but has made only 66-of-156 field goal attempts (.423). Aerie DeJesus is coming off a career-high 20 points against Shippensburg on Saturday and is averaging 10.3 points per game. Marlon Herring is the team's leading rebounder, posting 6.3 boards per contest. Four players (Hines-Allen, DeJesus, TaKayla Ellis, and Amber Genwright) combine to average 42.1 of the team's 54.1 points and have combined to make 66 of the team's 76 three-pointers.
DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN ...Bloomsburg's 72-41 loss at Millersville on Wednesday, January 13, was the program's worst loss since dropping an 80-44 decision at Shippensburg on January 27, 2010. The 41 points scored by the Huskies were the fewest scored by a Bloomsburg team since suffering a 54-38 loss at home against Clarion on January 11, 2009.
DID YOU KNOW ...Bloomsburg's loss at Edinboro on Wednesday, January 6, was the first loss by a Huskies' team in the month of January since a 65-59 loss to West Chester on January 26, 2013. Since that loss, Bloomsburg had rattled off 21 straight victories in January. The Huskies have now lost twice in January - also the first time since that 2012-13 campaign.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE ...For the third time this season, five Bloomsburg players reached double figures in scoring when it defeated Lock Haven on Saturday.
Kristie Costantino (Norristown/Archbishop John Carroll) led the way with 16 while
Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) (15),
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) (12),
Alex Ross (Lancaster/Manheim Township) (11), and
Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) (10) also hit the mark. The Huskies also accomplished the feat against Gannon on December 5 and at Goldey-Beacom on November 17.
Saturday's game also marked the second time this season that multiple players recorded a double-double. Hopkins (12 points, 12 rebounds) and Ross (11 points, 10 rebounds) turned the trick against Lock Haven. Against Mercyhurst on December 4, three Huskies posted double-doubles - Hopkins, Klunk, and Sadowski.
COSTANTINO ON INTERESTING RUN ...Junior
Kristie Costantino (Norristown/Archbishop John Carroll) had her best output in a Bloomsburg uniform during Saturday's 66-55 victory over Lock Haven. She scored a Bloomsburg-high 16 points on 5-of-9 from the field, 2-of-3 from long distance, and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. She added four rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block in the win. She has had three double-digit scoring efforts over the last six games - averaging 13.0 points per game in those three outings. Meanwhile, she has failed to score a point in the other three games.
COMING OUT OF NOWHERE ...After averaging 1.0 point and 1.1 rebounds as a freshman and then 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds last season, junior
Alex Ross (Lancaster/Manheim Township) is taking advantage of a significant increase in playing time this season. On Saturday, she posted her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Lock Haven. She also added a career-high three blocks and tied a career-high with five assists. She recorded her first double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) in a loss to Gannon on December 5. In the win over Kutztown on January 9, Ross poured in a career-high 22 points, marking the first time in her collegiate career that she had eclipsed 20 points in a game. Her previous high was 18 against the University of the Sciences on November 29. This season, she is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 9.9 points per game, third in rebounding at 5.0 boards per contest, fourth in assists per game (2.4), and third in blocks per game (0.8).
MAMA, MIA ...Junior
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) recorded her ninth double-double of the season during Saturday's 66-55 win over Lock Haven - her second in the last three games. She posted 12 points and added 12 rebounds in the win. Her 24-point, 11-rebound effort at Kutztown on January 9 was her first double-double, however, since December 4 when the Huskies defeated Mercyhurst, 66-61, in double overtime - the last of her seven consecutive double-doubles to start the season. Hopkins is still averaging double figures in points (18.6) and in rebounds (10.0) this season. She is tied for the PSAC lead, and tied for 18th in the country, with nine double-doubles

HOPKINS AGAINST MILLERSVILLE ...After
Alex Ross (Lancaster/Manheim Township) made Bloomsburg's first basket of the game at Millersville, the Huskies went ice cold except for
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area). Hopkins went on to score Bloomsburg's final 15 points of the half as the Huskies trailed, 33-17, at the break. Hopkins was 6-of-10 from the field in the opening half - the rest of the team went 1-of-18 (5.6%). All told, Hopkins finished with 19 of the team's 41 points and made 7-of-11 shots. The other Huskies combined to shoot 6-of-44 (13.6%) in the setback.
SHOOTING STRUGGLES A SURPRISE ...In two of the last four contests, the Huskies have struggled with their shooting - a surprising stat considering Bloomsburg is still third in the PSAC in shooting percentage (43.6%). At Edinboro on Wednesday, January 6, the Huskies went 19-of-63 (30.2%) and just 7-of-27 (25.9%) from beyond the arc. Things got worse for Bloomsburg on Wednesday, January 13 at Millersville as Bloomsburg shot just 13-of-55 (23.6%) from the field and 3-of-24 (12.5%) from long distance. In the other 14 games, the Huskies are 385-of-839 (45.9%) from the field - a number that would be leading the conference.
HOPKINS AMONG BEST ...Junior
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) ranks in the top ten in the PSAC in a number of categories, including points per game (second), rebounds per game (fifth), double-doubles (tied for first), field goal percentage (third), free throw percentage (seventh), and steals per game (tied for first). She is also 17th in the conference in assists per game (3.7) and tied for 13th in blocks per game (1.2). She is doing this despite being ranked only 23rd in the PSAC in minutes per game (31.8).
IMPRESSIVE CAREER ...Redshirt senior
Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) is putting together a fine career in a Bloomsburg uniform. Chosen as a preseason All-PSAC East selection, Sadowski ranks second on the team in scoring (12.5 ppg), second on the team in rebounding (5.8 rpg), and tops in blocked shots (1.8 bpg). She leads the PSAC in field goal percentage at 60.4%, which is the ninth best mark in the country. She is also fourth in the conference (45th in the country) in blocks per game at 1.8. Sadowski now needs 25 points to join the 1,000-point club and needs seven rebounds to reach 500 for her career. Sadowski now also has 150 career blocks in a Husky uniform - third on the program's all-time list.
REBOUNDING WOES ...Bloomsburg struggled mightily on the glass during the loss to Philadelphia on December 30. The Huskies were outrebounded by a 44-23 margin with
Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) and
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) each pulling down a team-high five boards. Philadelphia had 20 offensive rebounds as opposed to Bloomsburg's four. The Rams' Tori Arnao nearly outrebounded the Huskies by herself - she finished with a game-high 21 boards.
Bloomsburg has now been outrebounded by an average of 5.3 boards per game - 17th out of 18 teams in the PSAC. The Huskies average 36.6 rebounds per game - 16th in the conference. Over the last eleven games, the Huskies have been outrebounded nine times and by a total of 104 boards - an average of 9.5 rebounds per contest. In six of the nine games, Bloomsburg has been outrebounded by at least ten. Meanwhile, over the first five games, Bloomsburg was not outrebounded once and averaged 4.0 more rebounds per game than its opponent.
SECOND CHANCES ...The Huskies have allowed 263 offensive rebounds (including 28 to Lock Haven on Saturday) to their opponents during the season. That figure equates to an average of 16.4 offensive rebounds per game, which have led to 206 points (12.9 per game). In comparison, the Huskies have 165 offensive boards (10.3) which have led to 148 second-chance points (9.3 ppg).
TURNOVERS COSTLY ...Bloomsburg struggled to hang on to the basketball against West Chester on Wednesday, December 16, and it proved to be costly for the Huskies. Bloomsburg turned the ball over 24 times which led to 38 West Chester points during the Huskies' 91-74 loss to the Golden Rams. Bloomsburg did everything else pretty well - it shot 50% from the field (27-of-54), shot 77.8% from the foul line (14-of-18), and outrebounded West Chester, 30-28. The difference was the points off turnovers category - West Chester held the edge in that department, 38-9.
Over 16 games, the Huskies are averaging 18.3 turnovers per game (13th in the PSAC), which have led to an average of 18.3 points off turnovers for their opponents. Kutztown had 25 points off 18 Bloomsburg turnovers on Saturday, January 9, with 19 points off turnovers in the fourth quarter alone.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE ...The Huskies have Saturday off and are not scheduled to play again until Wednesday, January 27, when they host PSAC East-leading Shippensburg at the Nelson Field House. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Bloomsburg will then head to East Stroudsburg for a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday, January 30.
