Sadowski hit a layup with 27 seconds left in the third to become the 21st player in school history to reach the milestone. Bloomsburg led 44-27 at halftime and shot 54.2% from the field (32-of-59) for the game. The Huskies also held a 38-27 edge in the rebounding department. Joining Sadowski in double figures were junior
Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) (12), freshman
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) (12), and freshman
Marissa Molnar (Erie/McDowell High School) (11). It was Molnar's first collegiate double-digit scoring effort. Junior
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) was held to single digits in scoring for the first time all season (eight points) but did record a game-high 14 rebounds in the win. The Huskies also went 6-of-11 from long distance and 18-of-20 from the foul line.
DOUBLE DIGITS AGAIN ...The victory over Lock Haven on January 16 was Bloomsburg's tenth win of the season - the eighth straight season that the Huskies have won at least ten games. The last time Bloomsburg did not win ten games was in 2007-08 when it went 8-19 under head coach Tammy Millsaps. Current head coach
Bill Cleary took over in 2008-09 and has won at least ten games every season.
THE SHIPPENSBURG SERIES ...Shippensburg leads the all-time series against Bloomsburg, 30-24, but the Huskies have won nine of the last ten meetings between the two schools including a 69-61 victory on February 28, 2012 in the PSAC Quarterfinals at Nelson Field House. Eight of the last ten meetings have been decided by ten points or fewer and one other was an 11-point Bloomsburg win (January 11, 2012). Last season, the Huskies won both meetings by a combined total of eight points.
LAST MEETING AGAINST SHIPPENSBURG ...Marla Simmons (Lebanon/Cedar Crest) hit a layup with 13 seconds remaining, capping off a 30-point performance, and Shippensburg missed a shot with four seconds remaining as Bloomsburg held off the Raiders, 65-64, at Heiges Field House on January 31, 2015. The game featured ten lead changes and four ties and no lead, for either team, was larger than ten points. Bloomsburg led by nine with eight minutes left in the first half and Shippensburg's biggest lead of the game was six with 17:47 left in regulation. Simmons finished the game by making 13-of-20 field goal attempts, 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 1-of-1 at the line. She also added a team-high eight rebounds and three assists.
Taylor Maldonado (Stroudsburg/Allentown Central Catholic) (10 points) was the only other Husky in double figures. Shippensburg had four players in double figures, led by Morgan Griffith who finished with 19.

SCOUTING SHIPPENSBURG ...Shippensburg enters Wednesday's contest with an overall record of 15-2 and a PSAC East-leading 11-2 mark in conference play. The Raiders are five points away from having an undefeated season - they lost at Mercyhurst by a 67-65 final on November 21 and then suffered an 82-79 loss to Indiana (PA) on December 4. Since the loss to IUP, the Raiders have rattled off ten straight victories including their most recent win - an 83-65 home victory against Cheyney on January 16. The Raiders have four players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Morgan Griffith who scores 17.1 points per game (third in the PSAC). She also brings down a team-high 11.1 rebounds per contest (third in the PSAC). Logan Snyder is next, averaging 13.4 points per game. She is shooting 61.5% from the field (83-of-135). Stephanie Knauer (11.4) and Colleen Young (11.1) are also in double figures, but Knauer has not played since November 22 at Gannon. Lauren Gold chips in with 9.6 points per game and leads the team in assists (70), steals (37), and three-pointers (20). Shippensburg has the most prolific offense in the PSAC (75.6 ppg) while allowing only 61.9 points per game (second in the PSAC). It also shoots a league-high 45.7% from the field as a team.
DID YOU KNOW ...Bloomsburg's loss at Edinboro on Wednesday, January 6, was the first loss by a Huskies' team in the month of January since a 65-59 loss to West Chester on January 26, 2013. Since that loss, Bloomsburg had rattled off 21 straight victories in January. The Huskies have now lost twice in January - also the first time since that 2012-13 campaign.
SADOWSKI HITS MILESTONE ...Redshirt senior
Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) became the 21st player (and 5th under head coach
Bill Cleary) in program history to record 1,000 career points when she hit a bucket with 27 seconds left in the third quarter at Cheyney on January 20. She finished the game with a season-high 27 points, giving her 1,002 for her career - 79 points shy of cracking the top 20 in program history. She needs two rebounds to join 13 other players in school history to have 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. With those two rebounds, she would also become one of only two players in school history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 150 blocks. Colleen Kegerreis (2005-09) finished her career with 1,313 points, 859 rebounds, and 194 blocks.
MACK IS BACK ...For the fourth time this season, freshman
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Week. She earned the honor after posting 12 points in Bloomsburg's 88-68 win at Cheyney last Wednesday. Her 12 points snapped a string of four straight quiet outings since recording a career-high 20 points in the win over Slippery Rock on January 3. Prior to Wednesday, Mack had averaged 3.5 points, 0.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists over her last four games, but had 12 points on 4-of-8 from the field, 2-of-3 from long range, and 2-of-2 at the foul line. She also added two rebounds and a career-high four assists in the win over Cheyney. She leads all Bloomsburg freshmen by averaging 6.9 points per game this season.
MOLNAR HITS DOUBLE DIGITS ...Freshman
Marissa Molnar (Erie/McDowell High School) scored 11 points in the win at Cheyney on January 20 - the first time in her collegiate career that she has hit double digits. She was 1-of-1 from the field (a three-pointer to end the first half) and was 8-of-8 at the foul line. Molnar became the eighth different player to record a double-digit scoring game this season. So far this season, she is averaging 2.4 points per game in 12 games this season (8.7 minutes per game).

Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) (10) also hit the mark. The Huskies also accomplished the feat against Gannon on December 5 and at Goldey-Beacom on November 17.
The Lock Haven game also marked the second time this season that multiple players recorded a double-double. Hopkins (12 points, 12 rebounds) and Ross (11 points, 10 rebounds) turned the trick against Lock Haven. Against Mercyhurst on December 4, three Huskies posted double-doubles - Hopkins, Klunk, and Sadowski.
COSTANTINO ON INTERESTING RUN ...Junior
Kristie Costantino (Norristown/Archbishop John Carroll) had her best output in a Bloomsburg uniform during the 66-55 victory over Lock Haven on January 16. She has had three double-digit scoring efforts over the last seven games and is averaging 11.5 points in the four games she has scored during the stretch. Meanwhile, she has failed to score a point in the other three games.
COMING OUT PARTY ...After averaging 1.0 point and 1.1 rebounds as a freshman and then 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds last season, junior
Alex Ross (Lancaster/Manheim Township) is taking advantage of a significant increase in playing time this season. On Saturday, she posted her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Lock Haven. She also added a career-high three blocks and tied a career-high with five assists. She recorded her first double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) in the loss to Gannon on December 5. In the win over Kutztown on January 9, Ross poured in a career-high 22 points, marking the first time in her collegiate career that she had eclipsed 20 points in a game. Her previous high was 18 against the University of the Sciences on November 29. This season, she is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 9.9 points per game, third in rebounding at 4.9 boards per contest, fourth in assists per game (2.4), and third in blocks per game (0.7).
MAMA, MIA ...Junior
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) recorded her ninth double-double of the season during the 66-55 win over Lock Haven on January 16 - her second in the last four games. She posted 12 points and added 12 rebounds in the win. Her 24-point, 11-rebound effort at Kutztown on January 9 was her first double-double, however, since December 4 when the Huskies defeated Mercyhurst, 66-61, in double overtime - the last of her seven consecutive double-doubles to start the season. Hopkins is still averaging double figures in points (18.0) and in rebounds (10.2) this season. She is tied for the PSAC lead, and tied for 18th in the country, with nine double-doubles.
HOPKINS AGAINST MILLERSVILLE ...After
Alex Ross (Lancaster/Manheim Township) made Bloomsburg's first basket of the game at Millersville, the Huskies went ice cold except for
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area). Hopkins went on to score Bloomsburg's final 15 points of the half as the Huskies trailed, 33-17, at the break. Hopkins was 6-of-10 from the field in the opening half - the rest of the team went 1-of-18 (5.6%). All told, Hopkins finished with 19 of the team's 41 points and made 7-of-11 shots. The other Huskies combined to shoot 6-of-44 (13.6%) in the setback.
DOESN'T HAPPEN OFTEN ...Bloomsburg's 72-41 loss at Millersville on Wednesday, January 13, was the program's worst loss since dropping an 80-44 decision at Shippensburg on January 27, 2010. The 41 points scored by the Huskies were the fewest scored by a Bloomsburg team since suffering a 54-38 loss at home against Clarion on January 11, 2009.
HOPKINS AMONG BEST ...Junior
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) ranks in the top ten in the PSAC in a number of categories including points per game (second), rebounds per game (fifth), double-doubles (tied for first), field goal percentage (third), free throw percentage (eighth), and steals per game (second). She is also tied for 16th in the conference in assists per game (3.6) and tied for 14th in blocks per game (1.1). She is doing this despite being ranked only 30th in the PSAC in minutes per game (31.2).
REBOUNDING WOES ...Bloomsburg has now been outrebounded by an average of 4.3 boards per game - 17th out of 18 teams in the PSAC. The Huskies average 36.7 rebounds per game - 16th in the conference. Over the last 12 games, the Huskies have been outrebounded nine times and by a total of 93 boards - an average of 7.8 rebounds per contest. In six of the nine games, Bloomsburg has been outrebounded by at least ten. Meanwhile, over the first five games, Bloomsburg was not outrebounded once and averaged 4.0 more rebounds per game than its opponent. The Huskies did outrebound Cheyney, 38-27, on January 20 - the first time Bloomsburg outrebounded its opponent since edging Mansfield, 41-39, on December 19.
SECOND CHANCES ...The Huskies have allowed 278 offensive rebounds to their opponents during the season. That figure equates to an average of 16.4 offensive rebounds per game that the Huskies are allowing, which have led to 216 points (12.7 per game). In comparison, the Huskies have 180 offensive boards (10.6) which have led to 163 second-chance points (9.6 ppg).
NEW LOOK LINEUP ...Bloomsburg head coach
Bill Cleary decided to switch up the starting lineup against Slippery Rock on Sunday, Janaury 3, after a lackluster performance against Philadelphia University on Wednesday, December 30. The Huskies started five freshmen -
Julia Gantz (Havertown/Archbishop John Carroll),
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic),
Marissa Molnar (Erie/McDowell High School),
Taylor Sneidman (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley), and
Casey Warley (West Chester/Bayard Rustin) with all but Gantz and Mack making their first collegiate starts. The move paid off as Mack (20 points), Warley (eight points), and Sneidman (two points) each posting new career highs. Cleary continues to tweak the lineup as freshman
Madeline Murtin (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) made her first collegiate start on January 16 against Lock Haven while Gantz was inserted back into the starting lineup.
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) and
Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) came off the bench in the 11-point win over the Bald Eagles. He changed it again against Cheyney, replacing Murtin with Klunk in the starting five.
FIRST TIME IN A WHILE ...Junior
Mia Hopkins (Pittston/Pittston Area) scored 13 points and pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds in the win over the University of the Sciences on November 29. The 16 rebounds were the first time that a Bloomsburg player had at least 15 boards in a game since Colleen Kegerreis pulled down 15 in a 71-70 loss against Cheyney on Janaury 14, 2009. Hopkins recorded another 16-rebound effort against Mercyhurst on December 4.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE ...The Huskies will travel to East Stroudsburg on Saturday, January 30 for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff. Bloomsburg defeated the Warriors, 73-52, at Nelson Field House back on December 1.
