KUTZTOWN—In a battle of ranked teams the seventh-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team blanked eighth-ranked Kutztown University, 2-0, on Tuesday night.

The Huskies took the early lead just 4:11 into the contest.
Tali Wehner (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) took a shot that was saved by Kutztown defender Morgan Aldinger. Bloomsburg's
Sam Peters (Harrisburg, Pa./Mifflin County) was there, though, to get the rebound and punch it in for the lead. For Peters it was her fifth goal of the season.

Bloomsburg added to its lead in the 30
th minute. Wehner sent a shot towards the goal that was deflected in by
Abby Sauder (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal). For Sauder it was her fifth goal of the season, while Wehner got credit for her fourth assist in the last two games.

Kutztown had a big scoring opportunity just one minute after the Huskies scored. Aldinger was awarded a penalty stroke, but Bloomsburg goalie
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) came up with the huge save keeping it 2-0 at the half.

From there the Bloomsburg defense came to the forefront shutting down the Golden Bears. Over the final 35 minutes of the game Kutztown peppered the Huskies with 10 shots and eight penalty corners, but Cassell came up with five saves to preserve the shutout. For the game Cassel made a total of eight saves with
Alexis Carroll (Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) and
Sally DeLuca (West Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area) making defensive sasves.

Bloomsburg improved to 10-3, 4-1 in the PSAC, while Kutztown falls to 7-5, 2-3 in the PSAC. The Huskies play at West Chester on Saturday at 1 p.m.
