GAME PREVIEW: Men's Soccer Heads To West Chester Saturday

STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team heads to West Chester on Saturday afternoon for its final road match of the regular season. Bloomsburg enters the contest with a 2-11-2 overall record and a 1-6-2 mark in the PSAC standings. West Chester, meanwhile, has clinched a postseason berth and is 10-3-2 overall and 7-1-1 in league play.

West Chester holds a slim lead over Bloomsburg in the all-time series, 19-17-6.

LAST MEETING
Bloomsburg and West Chester last met on October 24 of last season with the Huskies earning a 1-0 shutout win at Steph Pettit Stadium. Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored the lone goal of the contest in the 15th minute when he scored on a breakaway opportunity. The Huskies outshot the Golden Rams, 16-9, with Jared Ott (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) stopping five shots for the shutout. James Wood turned aside six shots in the loss for West Chester. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies last played on Wednesday evening and suffered a 2-0 loss to East Stroudsburg at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Warriors scored both of their goals in the opening ten minutes of the contest and then thwarted any opportunity for a Bloomsburg comeback bid. Redshirt junior Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) stopped four shots in the loss for the Huskies.

West Chester knocked off Lock Haven, 3-2, on Wednesday evening to extend its winning streak to five straight matches. The Golden Rams scored all three of their goals in the second half to erase a two-goal deficit and to clinch a playoff berth. Brett Glasco and Giovanni Mowrey scored minutes apart to tie the game at 2-2 which was followed by Tim French's game-winner with less than five minutes left in regulation. James Wood stopped three shots in the victory.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies enter the contest with a 2-11-2 overall record and a 1-6-2 mark in the PSAC standings. Bloomsburg has scored 15 goals in 15 matches this season and rank 11th in the PSAC in scoring average. The Huskies are also 11th in scoring defense, allowing 2.2 goals per match. Redshirt junior Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) leads the Huskies in scoring this season with five goals and two assists for twelve points. Transue has climbed into a tie for eighth place on the school's all-time list with 23 career goals and his 54 career points ranks tied for ninth in program history. Junior Anthony Cerda (Budd Lake, N.J./Mount Olive) is second on the team with two goals and two assists for six points. Freshman Mike Bazadona (Courtdale, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) has added two goals and one helper for five points in his rookie campaign. Redshirt junior Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) has seen most of the action in goal for the Huskies and is 2-8-2 with a 1.78 goals against average and a .766 save percentage. He ranks sixth in the PSAC in save percentage and is second in saves per game (6.00).

SCOUTING WEST CHESTER
West Chester has clinched a spot in the PSAC tournament with a 10-3-2 overall record and a 7-1-1 mark in conference play. The Golden Rams have scored 33 goals in 15 games this season and rank fourth in the league in scoring offense (2.2). Defensively, the team has allowed only 15 goals - fewest in the conference this season. Colin Hester leads the team in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Brian Schaefer is right behind with four goals and an assist for nine points. In goal, James Wood has started 14 of the team's 15 matches. He is 10-2-2 with a 0.83 goals against average and an .824 save percentage. He is tops in the PSAC in goals against average and shutouts (6) while ranking second in save percentage and sixth in saves per game (4.00).

UP NEXT
Bloomsburg returns home on Tuesday, October 25 to host Molloy College in a non-conference contest. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from Steph Pettit Stadium. As with every home match throughout October, canisters will be set up at each entrance to the stadium as the team is collecting donations to benefit Red Card Cancer.
