BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University field hockey team moved a step closer to a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) playoff berth with a 1-0 win over IUP on Saturday at Steph Pettit Stadium.

The Huskies got the game's only goal early in the contest. A shot out front near the top left of the circle was blocked by a IUP player. Senior
Sam Peters (Harrisburg, Pa./Mifflin County) though was there to grab the carom. She then spun and directed a back-handed shot to the goal that easily hit the back of a wide open cage. For Peters it was her team-leading 10
th goal of the year. It was also her fourth straight game with a goal.

From there the Huskies defense did the rest. Bloomsburg limited the Crimson Hawks to just three shots, only two on goal, for the game with Huskies' goalie
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) making two saves. Bloomsburg also held an 8-3 edge in penalty corners for the game. Â Cassel now has nine shutouts on the season.

The Huskies are now in fifth place in the PSAC standings with two games to play. The top six teams in the conference earn a trip to the playoffs.

Bloomsburg improves to 11-5, 5-3 in the PSAC, while IUP drops to 7-7, 3-5 in the PSAC. The Huskies visit Slippery Rock on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
