BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team closed out the 2016 season with a 3-1 win over Shippensburg University on Saturday. Prior to the game the Huskies honored the three senior members of their team,
Nick Geller (York, Pa./West York),
Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) and
Josh Smith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg).

The Huskies opened the scoring in the 11
th minute when Geller sent a pass into the box from the far right side.
Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) then went up and headed the ball into the goal for a 1-0 lead. For Transue it was his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Bloomsburg made it 2-0 in the 37
th minute when
Samuel Izzo (Frankford, Del./Indian River) scored his first goal of the year when a save by Shippensburg goalie Garret Watson was mishandled and Izzo headed it home.

Shippensburg cut the lead in half when Jamie Blair headed in a corner kick by Jake Shefsky in the 52
nd minute.

The Huskies, though, got an insurance goal in the 71
st minute of action when
Brett Milden (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) scored off a
Nick DiBiase (East Hanover, N.J./DePaul Catholic) crossing pass. For Milden it was his second goal of the year.

For Bloomsburg Pesarcik made five saves and got the win, while Shippensburg's Watson had three saves and Evan Raimist had two.

Bloomsburg ends the year at 3-12-3, while Shippensburg falls to 6-12.
