STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg men's soccer team will step out of conference action on Wednesday afternoon as it travels to New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). The Huskies are currently on a nine-game winless streak (0-7-2) after winning their season opener against Felician, 1-0, on September 1. The Bears, meanwhile, are 6-3-1 overall and have won two straight contests - both against East Coast Conference (ECC) opponents.

ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the 13th meeting between the two schools with each team winning six of the first twelve contests. Last season, the Huskies tied the all-time series with a 1-0 overtime win over the Bears at Steph Pettit Stadium on September 5, 2015. Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored the lone goal of the match 2:41 into the extra session. Taylor Lesage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) had four saves for the shutout victory.

LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg saw its winless streak climb to nine straight on Saturday afternoon but did end a five-game losing skid with a 1-1 overtime tie against Slippery Rock at Steph Pettit Stadium. Redshirt junior Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead with his fourth goal of the season in the 17th minute. However, The Rock sent the game to overtime when Kenton Keeslar scored with 3:09 left in regulation. Heavy rains forced the game to be called with 3:24 left in the first extra session. Redshirt junior Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) stopped five shots for the Huskies

NYIT earned a 3-0 victory against the District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Georgetown University. All three Bears' goals came in the second half - two by Krishen Patel and one from Jorge Sariego. Patel also added an assist in the win. Jonathan Rico started in goal and stopped two shots before giving way to Andrew Pereira with just over six minutes left for the combined shutout.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Since winning their opening match against Felician, the Huskies have gone 0-7-2 in their last nine contests. Bloomsburg did, however, snap a five-game losing streak with a 1-1, rain-shortened overtime tie against Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Huskies find themselves with a 1-7-2 overall record and an 0-5-2 against PSAC opponents - one point behind Pitt-Johnstown for 11th place in the standings. Bloomsburg is tenth in the PSAC in scoring offense (0.90) and 11th in scoring defense (2.00). Redshirt junior Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) leads the Huskies with four goals and one assist for nine points. He is tied for ninth in the PSAC in goals (4) and is fourth in the league in shots (34). Transue has climbed into a tie for ninth place on the school's all-time list with 22 career goals and his 51 career points are two away from cracking the all-time top-ten list in program history. Freshmen Seth Walter (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Mike Bazadona (Courtdale, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) are next on the team in scoring this season with one goal and one assist for three points apiece. Sophomores Clayton Newton (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) and Ken Herrmann (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and senior Josh Smith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) are the only other Huskies to score a goal this season. Redshirt junior Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) has seen most of the time in goal. He is 1-5-2 with a 1.79 goals against average and a .773 save percentage. He ranks fourth in the PSAC in save percentage (.773), tied for fourth in shutouts (1), and second in saves per game (6.38).

SCOUTING NYIT
The Bears enter the contest with a 6-3-1 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the East Coast Conference. NYIT sports a 3-1-1 record at home this season. The Bears come in averaging 1.90 goals per game on offense while allowing 1.12 goals per game. The team has played two schools from the PSAC thus far - a 0-0 double overtime tie against West Chester on September 14 and a 5-2 loss to Seton Hill on September 21. Krishen Patel is the player to watch for the Bears as he leads the team in scoring with six goals and three assists for 15 points. He also has a team-high two game-winning goals. Ion Barbarin Garcia is next with three goals and three assists for nine points while Jorge Sariego has added two goals and three helpers for seven points on the year. Jonathan Rico has played all but 6:47 in goal for the Bears. He is 6-3-1 with a 1.13 goals against average and a .756 save percentage to go along with four shutouts.

UP NEXT
Bloomsburg returns home on Saturday, October 8 for a non-conference match against Notre Dame College (Ohio). Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Steph Pettit Stadium. As with every home match throughout October, canisters will be set up at each entrance to the stadium as the team is collecting donations to benefit Red Card Cancer.
