HTML BOX SCORE

BLOOMSBURG—Freshman Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) scored two goals and sophomore Tali Wehner (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) assisted on three goals to lead the sixth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 5-0 win over Seton Hill University on Saturday at Steph Pettit Stadium.

Bloomsburg controlled field position from the beginning of the game getting two penalty corners and two shots on goal in the opening five minutes of the game, but could not hit the back of the cage.

Finally, in the 21st minute Wehner delivered a pass to Annie Klinger (Klingerstown, Pa./Line Mountain) who sent a backhanded shot past the Griffins goalie for a 1-0.  It stayed 1-0 for the remainder of the half, but the Huskies struck quickly early in the second half.

Wehner sent pass from outside the circle to McKay who made a spin move and hit a backhanded shot for a 2-0 just 1:36 into the second half. Wehner got her third assist when she made another pass from outside the circle to MacKenna Mahan (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) who stopped, turned and drilled a hard shot making it 3-0 in the 50th minute.

Bloomsburg extended its lead to 4-0 when McKay got her second goal off a scramble in front of the net on a penalty corner. With Seton Hill looking to clear the ball Stephanie Halsted (Fairfax Station, Va./South County) had the ball come towards her just outside of the goal mouth. She then fed McKay parked in the center of the circle who scored easily.

Less than a minute later the Huskies came back with Sam Peters (Harrisburg, Pa./Mifflin County) scoring on a scramble in front of the net following another penalty corner.

For the game Bloomsburg held a 17-1 edge in shots and a 16-2 edge in penalty corners holding the Griffins to one each half.

The Huskies move to 9-3, 3-1 in the PSAC, while Seton Hill falls to 2-9, 0-4 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg plays at Kutztown on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
