HTML BOX SCOREBLOOMSBURG-Despite forcing 17 turnovers in the game, the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team suffered a tough night shooting 3-pointers and fell to Millersville University, 64-48, in a PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Eastern Division matchup at the Nelson Field House.
Bloomsburg (13-11, 10-10 PSAC East) forced the Marauders into 17 turnovers for the game, but hit on just 3-19 (15.8 percent) from beyond the arc in the game.
Millersville (16-7, 12-7 PSAC East) started quickly in the game going on top 6-1 just four minutes into the contest with the Huskies missing their first nine shots before a
Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) layup with 4:27 to play in the first period. Bloomsburg narrowed the gap to 10-9 after one period with Klunk and
Alex Ross (Lancaster/Manheim Township) each scoring four points.
Bloomsburg took its first lead in the game when
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) drained jumper to make it 11-10 on the first possession of the quarter. The Huskies later pushed the lead to 20-15 with 4:29 to play in the half with the help of a 6-0 run.
Julia Gantz (Havertown/Archbishop John Carroll) had four of the six points for Bloomsburg.
The Marauders rallied in the closing minutes of the second period putting together a 9-1 run to lead at the break, 24-21. For the half the Huskies were shooting just 29 percent from the floor (9-31) and were 1-9 from 3-point range.
The third quarter saw the Marauders extend the margin to 14 points with 3:07 to play after outscoring the Huskies 18-11. Shelby Reimer got hot from deep hitting on three, 3-pointers in the first first four half minutes of the period.
Millersville maintained its double-digit advantage in the fourth period going up by as many as 17 points. Bloomsburg could no closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
Klunk scored 12 points for Bloomsburg, while Ross and Gantz each chipped in with nine. Millersville got 20 points from Reimer and 10 points from Aunjel Van Brackle.
Bloomsburg closes out its home regular season schedule on Saturday hosting Cheyney on Senior Day at 3 p.m. The Huskies are in a battle with East Stroudsburg for the fourth spot in the PSAC playoffs and the right to host an opening round game. The top two seeds get a bye, while teams three and four host first round games.
