HTML BOX SCORENEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Bloomsburg University baseball team scored three times in the ninth inning to earn a come-from-behind, 5-3, victory over the Newport News Apprentice School on Thursday evening in the opening game of the Builder Invitational. With the victory, the Huskies evened their record at 2-2 on the young season. The Builders dropped to 4-3 on the year.

Ryuta Amaike (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) started on the mound for the Huskies and went six and one-third innings before freshman
Ashton Raines (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) relieved him. With the Huskies' comeback in the ninth, Raines picked up the win - his first collegiate victory.
Amaike allowed three runs on nine hits during his outing. The righthander walked one and struck out a career-high ten batters. His previous high was six punchouts against West Chester on March 30, 2015.
With the Huskies trailing 3-2 going to the top of the ninth, sophomore
Shane Woelfel (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on an error by reliever Mike Brumfield. Freshman
Tristan Kevitch (Ardmore, Pa./Harriton) drove home Woelfel with an RBI double to tie the game at 3-3. Senior
Joey Casselberry (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton)Â plated the go-ahead run when he reached on an error with the bases loaded and one out. Sophomore
Tyler Benson (Montville, N.J./Montville Township) scored the final run of the inning on a wild pitch.
Raines preserved the win, pitching around a two-out double to Darius Harris in the bottom of the ninth for his first career win. The freshman righthander allowed two hits while striking out four in two and two-thirds shutout innings.
The Huskies plated the first run of the game in the top of the first inning on an RBI groundout from Casselberry which scored Benson who had walked earlier in the frame. Bloomsburg added a run in the top of the fourth for a 2-0 advantage on an RBI single by redshirt sophomore
Cy Treaster (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) which scored senior
Ryan Kirman (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) who hsd reached on a double with one out.
The Apprentice School finally solved Amaike in the bottom of the sixth, plating a single run to cut the lead to 2-1. The Builders captured a 3-2 advantage in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of runs. A one-out single from Jacob Countiss and an RBI double from Collin Wilber tied the game at 2-2 and ended the day for Amaike. Raines promptly hit Darius Harris with a pitch and gave up an RBI single to Brock Harris before getting out of the inning without any further damage.
Bloomsburg got two hits apiece from Casselberry, Woelfel, and Kevitch to pace the ten-hit attack. Casselberry drove in two runs while Benson scored twice for the Huskies' offense.
The Huskies will square off against the College of Saint Joseph on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a contest against the Crimson Hawks of Indiana (PA) at 6:00 p.m.
