W.V. STATE BOXSALEM, VA—The Bloomsburg University softball posted two shutout wins on day one of the regional crossover tournament in Salem, VA on Friday. The Huskies beat Fairmont State, 6-0, in game one and then blanked West Virginia State, 4-0. Combined the Bloomsburg pitching staff allowed just five hits on the day.

In game one the Huskies jumped out to an early lead by scoring five times on just two hits and taking advantage of two errors by Fairmont State. With two outs the Huskies loaded the bases when
Erica Keen (Gordonville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) drew a bases loaded walk to make it 1-0.
Emily Getz (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) then doubled home two runs to make it 3-0.
Holly Peacock (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) then delivered a two-run single making it 5-0.

Bloomsburg added a run in the second when
Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) walked and came around to score on an error by Fairmont to make it 5-0.

Fairmont threatened in the second getting two runners on, but
Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) got a ground out to end the inning. In the sixth Fairmont put two runners on base, but Tomaschik got an inning ending strikeout.

Getz finished 2-2 with two RBI, while Peacock was 1-2 with two RBI. Tomaschik went six innings to get the win striking out five and walking two.

In game two
Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) pitched the Huskies to a 4-0 win allowing just one hit and striking out eight.

The Huskies got out to another early lead in the game scoring twice in the top of the first inning.
Emily Mayhew (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) reached on an error to leadoff and went to second on a single by
Taylor Winkelman (Springfield, Pa/Springfield). Mayhew then moved to third on a fly out by Parker and scored on a ground out by Tomaschik. Winkelmen then came around to score when
Bridget Casey (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) reached on an error.

Bloomsburg made it 4-0 with a pair of runs in the third.
Kalynn Wheeland (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) doubled in Casey with Wheeland coming around on a single by Peacock.

From there, Parker was dominant retiring the final 16 batters she faced striking out the side in the sixth inning. She fanned eight and did not walk a hitter in going the distance.

Bloomsburg goes to 10-2 with the sweep and will face Chowan and Shepherd starting at 12 pm.
