GAME TWO BOXBLOOMSBURG—
Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) threw a one-hit shutout and hit a solo homer and
Emily Mayhew (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) hit two home runs to lead the Bloomsburg University softball team to a 5-0 win over Millersville University in game two of its doubleheader at
Jan Hutchinson Field. In the opener the Marauders blanked the Huskies, 2-0.

After being shutout in the opener the Huskies came back in game two. After leaving the bases loaded in the first inning without scoring, Bloomsburg got on the board in the second inning. With one out
Holly Peacock (Williamsport, Pa./Jersey Shore) reached on an error and moved to second on a single by
Valerie Carcasses (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat).
Taylor Winkelman (Springfield, Pa/Springfield) then followed with a double to right center scoring Peacock and giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

Millersville got a leadoff double from Maria Spinosa in the top of the third, but Tomaschik retired the next three batters to keep it a 1-0 game.

Bloomsburg added to its lead in the third when Tomaschik led off with a solo homer to center making it 2-0. In the fourth the Huskies made it 4-0 when Carcasses reached on an error to lead off the inning. One out later Mayhew delivered a long home run to double the Bloomsburg lead.

The Huskies threatened in the bottom of the fifth blow the game open, but left the bases loaded. In the sixth Mayhew hit her second homer of the game, a solo shot to right center, making it 5-0.

Tomaschik then closed out the game by retiring the side in order in the top of the seventh. The junior finished with two strikeouts and no walks and allowed just two base runners (one hit and one hit batter). Mayhew finished game two 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.

In the opener Millersville's Brianna Andraos shutout the Huskies allowing just five hits, while walking three. The Huskies left eight runners stranded in the game, including leaving the bases loaded in the fifth. Bloomsburg had the go-ahead run at the plate with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Andraos got a ground out to end the game.

Millersville got all its runs in the third when Heather Lutz walked and came around to score On Brittany Smith's two-run homer.

Bloomsburg's
Sarah Bortner (Glenville, Pa./South Western) was the tough-luck loser in game one allowing just four hits, while walking two and fanning nine.
Â
Bloomsburg goes to 15-4, while Millersville drops to 11-9. The Huskies were originally scheduled to play Sunday at Goldey-Beacom, but that doubleheader has been moved to Tuesday at 3 p.m.
