GAME TWO NCAA Regional PollCLARION—The Bloomsburg University softball team stretched its winning streak to 17 games with a sweep of Clarion on Wednesday by scores of 9-1 in five innings and 5-0. The Huskies are now 31-4, 12-0 in the PSAC Central.

Earlier in the day the first NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll of the season was released and the Huskies were ranked fourth.

In game one the Huskies
Sarah Bortner (Glenville, Pa./South Western) had a perfect game going into the fifth inning before finishing with a two-hitter. The junior retired the first 13 batters she faced before letting the 14
th batter reach on a wild pitch after striking out. The next hitter then walked to put runners at first and second. The no-hitter was broken up by the next batter on a clean single with a run coming into score. Bortner finished 14 strikeouts with the only out not by strikeout being a ground out to shortstop in the third inning.

The Huskies got all the offense it needed in the top of the first inning.
Taylor Winkelman (Springfield, Pa/Springfield) singled to lead off the game with
Natalie Quinlan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) walking to put runners on first and second. A passed ball then moved both runners into scoring position.
Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) followed with a single to center scoring both runners for a 2-0 lead. Parker moved up to third on two groundouts and scored on a double by
Erica Keen (Gordonville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan).

In the third the Huskies made it 5-0.
Kalynn Wheeland (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) led off with a solo homer, then Keen scored on an RBI double by
Bridget Casey (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge).

Bloomsburg put the game out of reach with four runs in the fifth inning.
Maggie Hall (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown),
Abbey Remley (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area),
Marissa Shelhamer (Nescopeck, Pa./Central Columbia) all drove in runs in during the inning.

Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) and
Alyssa Davies (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) combined on a three-hit shutout with Wheeland driving in two runs.

Bloomsburg got two runs in the second inning for all the offense it would need. Casey had an RBI ground out, while
Emily Getz (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) had an RBI single. In the third Winkelman was hit by a pitch, took second on a ground out and scored on Wheeland's double.

The Huskies made it 4-0 in the fourth with Casey walking and later scoring on
Anna McElroy (Jessup, Pa./Valley View)'s double to left center. Bloomsburg's final run came in the fifth when Parker tripled and scored on Wheeland's sacrifice fly.

In the circle Tomashik went the first five innings allowing just two hits, walking one and striking out seven. Davies went the final two innings giving up one hit and fanning one.
