BOX SCOREBLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 5 Mercyhurst, 18-3, on Saturday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Huskies fall to 4-9, 2-8 in the PSAC. The Lakers improve to 13-2 overall, 9-1 in the PSAC.

The opening minutes of the game were tight as both teams looked for scoring chances. Mercyhurst broke through two minutes into the game to go up 1-0 before Bloomsburg tied the score on goal by junior
Nikki Fisher (Warminster, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy ) off of an assist by junior
Brigid Kyne (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) with 23:09 left in the first half.

The Lakers then jumped ahead with five consecutive goals to take the lead, 6-1. With 11:19 remaining in the first half, Bloomsburg's Fisher scored off of an assist by Kyne, making the score 6-2. Mercyhurst added five more goals in a row to finish the half leading 11-2.

To start the second half the Lakers scored five consecutive goals increasing their lead to 16-2. Bloomsburg freshman
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) scored with 12:28 remaining off of an assist by sophomore
Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West). Back-to-back goals were scored by the Lakers in the last four minutes of play for a final score of 18-3.

In goal for Bloomsburg, junior
Abbey Burnett (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) had eight saves, while sophomore
Brittney Hegarty (Rochester, N.Y./Rush Henrietta) recorded four saves on goal.
