STORYLINE
Bloomsburg looks to keep its undefeated streak against PSAC Central opponents alive this weekend with two doubleheaders against division foes. On Friday, the Huskies will travel to Lock Haven to face the Lady Eagles, followed by a doubleheader matchup with University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Saturday to close out the regular season.
LAST MEETINGS
The Huskies hosted both Lock Haven and UPJ earlier this month. On April 2, Bloomsburg swept Pitt-Johnstown 7-2 and 8-2, and on April 12, the Huskies swept Lock Haven by the scores of 3-0 and 7-5.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The meetings against Pitt-Johnstown back on April 2 were the first-ever meetings between the two schools. Meanwhile, Bloomsburg leads the all-time series against Lock Haven, 69-29.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG (All stats as of Thursday, April 21)
Bloomsburg's 22 game winning streak was snapped by East Stroudsburg on Wednesday. The Huskies split the doubleheader with the Warriors, winning the first game, 3-1 before losing the second game, 2-1. Before Wednesday, the Huskies had not lost a game since March 19. Bloomsburg is currently batting .330 as a team, good for second in the PSAC.
Emily Mayhew (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) is batting .402 with a team-high 53 hits and was named the PSAC Central Division Athlete of the week on this past week.
Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) is hitting .386 with a conference-leading 11 home runs. Additionally, Parker is 11-1 in the circle with a 1.84 ERA and 77 strikeout. Also in the circle,
Sarah Bortner (Glenville, Pa./South Western) leads the team with her 1.26 ERA. In 111 innings, Bortner has allowed just 20 earned runs while compiling 125 strikeouts, which is fourth-best in the PSAC.
Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) was named the PSAC Central Pitcher of the week last week and has posted a 1.70 ERA and an 11-0 record. Tomaschik has struck out 64 batter in 74.1 innings of work while walking just 11 this season.
SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN (All stats as of Thursday, April 21)
Lock Haven comes into the series having been swept by Shepherd on Monday by scores of 6-2 and 2-1. Michelle Holweger leads the team with a .371 average, 49 hits, 36 RBI and five home runs this season. McKenna Garlock is second with a .349 average and leads the Crimson Hawks with 11 doubles on the season. In the circle, Bekah Slattery is 16-5 with 15 complete games and 136 strikeouts in 146.2 inning pitched. Also, Rachel Mouillesseaux has recorded 12 victories and struck out 85 batters in 126.1 innings pitched this season. The Crimson Hawks' team ERA of 2.14 is fourth-best in the PSAC and their nine shutouts are tied for fifth in the conference.
SCOUTING PITT-JOHNSTOWN (All stats as of Thursday, April 21)
Pitt-Johnstown hosts IUP in a doubleheader on Friday before facing off against Bloomsburg on Saturday. The Mountain Cats currently have a two-game winning streak after sweeping Clarion last Saturday by scores of 3-2 and 5-3. Morgan Cannin leads UPJ with a .330 average and 33 hits while Montana Mang has a team-high eight doubles and 15 RBI this season. In the circle, Melissa Wagner and Emily Moore each have five wins while Wagner has 112 strikeouts in 121 innings pitched. Moore has tallied 21 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched and picked up the win in her most recent start after tossing a complete game at Clarion on April 16.
