GAME TWO
LOCK HAVEN—The Bloomsburg University softball team posted a 3-1 win over Lock Haven in game two on Friday to help the Huskies earn a split of its doubleheader. In the opener the Huskies dropped their first PSAC Central game of the year falling 4-3 in 12 innings.

In game two
Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) stayed unbeaten at 12-0 by scattering seven hits and allowing just a first inning run. After Lock Haven jumped out on top with a run in the bottom of the first, the Huskies rallied with a pair of runs.

Anna McElroy (Jessup, Pa./Valley View) led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on
Taylor Winkelman (Springfield, Pa/Springfield)'s double. McElroy scored on
Emily Mayhew (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge)'s sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.
Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) then doubled to left center with Winkelman scoring easily on the play for a 2-1.

Lock Haven threatened in the fourth putting two runners on base, but the inning ended with Winkelman throwing out Moriah Lindsey at the plate. The Bald Eagles also had two runners on in the fifth, but Tomaschik worked out of the jam.

Bloomsburg added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when freshman
Alexa Erney (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) came off the bench and hit a pinch-hit homer. In the seventh, Lock Haven's Faith Ceeley walked to lead off. After the next two batters were retired, the Bald Eagles McKenna Garlock doubled with Ceely getting thrown out at home by Parker who took a rely from Winkelman.

In the opener the teams traded goose eggs through the first nine innings of play. Lock Haven's Bekah Slattery had a perfect game through the first six innings before the Huskies' Winkelman led off the seventh with a single. Slattery, though, got the next three batters to keep the game scoreless.

Meanwhile, Bloomsburg's
Sarah Bortner (Glenville, Pa./South Western) scattered six hits through the first seven innings to keep the Bald Eagles off the board.

In the 10
th inning with the tie-breaker rule in effect, the Huskies finally broke through. With Mayhew (pinch run for by
Bridget Casey (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge)) placed on second base to start the inning, Parker bunted Casey to third. Tomaschik then hit a sacrifice flyfor the first run of the game. Lock Haven came back in the bottom of the 10
th and tied the game on sacrifice fly.

Bloomsburg got two runs in the 11
th to take a 3-1 lead.
Erica Keen (Gordonville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) singled to center scoring pinch-runner
Rachel Breuninger (Sparta, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) to put the Huskies up 2-1. Later in the inning Winkelman doubled home Keen giving Bloomsburg a two-run advantage.

Lock Haven came back with two runs in the bottom of the 11
th to tie the game at 3-3.

In the top of the 12
th the Huskies moved their leadoff runner to third base, but Slattery got a strikeout and a pop out to end the inning. Lock Haven then won the game in the bottom of the 12
th getting a bunt single to score the winning run.

Bortner suffered the loss going the distance, while striking out seven and walking none.
Â
Bloomsburg falls to 37-6, 17-1 in the PSAC Central, while Lock Haven goes to 29-15, 12-6 in the PSAC Central. The Huskies are back in action on Saturday at Pitt-Johnstown starting at 1 p.m.
