LOUISVILLE, KY—Fresh off its win over top-ranked East Stroudsburg last Tuesday, the eighth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey rolled into Kentucky on Saturday and blanked Bellarmine, 2-0.

The Huskies improved to 3-1 on the year with the win, while Bellarmine suffered its first loss dropping to 3-1.

Bloomsburg jumped out early in the game scoring just 2:20 after the opening whistle. Freshmen
Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) won a scramble for the ball in front of the cage and hit the back left post with her shot to make it 1-0.

The host school actually had the upper hand statistically for the remainder of the first half as it outshot the Huskies 8-5 and held a 6-2 edge in penalty corners.
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) though made five first half saves to keep it a 1-0 game.

Bloomsburg got some breathing room in the 65
th minute when McKay scored her second goal of the game with
Abby Sauder (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) getting the assist. The shot was one of seven in the final 35 minutes for the Huskies who also held a 5-0 edge in penalty corners.
Cassel finished with seven saves to earn her second shutout of the year.

The Huskies will stay in Louisville and play Queens (NC) at 12 p.m.
