LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought, 2-1, decision on the road at Lock Haven University Tuesday afternoon. The loss kept the Huskies winless in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action (0-3-1) while their overall record dropped to 1-4-1 on the season. Lock Haven improved to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league play.
The game was quiet throughout as the teams combined for just 11 shots hrough 90 minutes of action, with the hosts holding a slim, 6-5, advantage.
After a scoreless first half, Lock Haven wasted little time to get on the board in the second half as the PSAC's leading scorer, Troy Amspacher, tallied his seventh goal of the season just 66 seconds in after sliding a shot underneath diving redshirt sophomore goalkeeper,
Taylor Lesage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton), who was making his first start of the season. Tyler Shumaker had the assist.
Then, just 1:19 later, Brian Flatter gave the Bald Eagles a 2-0 lead when he fired a shot inside the far post off an assist from Amspacher.
But, the Huskies came back in the 58th minute when sophomore
Ken Herrmann (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored his first goal of the season past Lock Haven goalkeeper Troy Teresak. Herrmann picked up a loose ball and fired it past Teresak just inside the far post for his fourth career goal.
That, however, would be as close as the Huskies would get despite getting six corner kick opportunities in the second half compared to Lock Haven's one. Bloomsburg outcornered the Bald Eagles, 7-3, for the match, but could only get the one goal on the board.
Lesage and Teresak were both credited with one save.
The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, September 17 with a home match against Seton Hill. Start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from Steph Pettit Stadium.
