STORYLINE
Since winning its opening contest against Felician, the Bloomsburg's men's soccer team has not been able to get a crooked number in the win column. They have suffered four losses and a tie since the season-opening win and will look to get back on track against PSAC-rival, Seton Hill. The Griffins come into the game with a 2-3 overall record, winning their first two games before dropping the last three.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg leads the all-time series against Seton Hill, 3-1.
LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg had its winless streak reach five games on Tuesday afternoon when it suffered a 2-1 loss at Lock Haven. The Huskies trailed 2-0 before sophomore
Ken Herrmann (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored in the 58th minute to cut the lead in half. That, however, would be as close as the Huskies would come. Redshirt sophomore
Taylor Lesage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) made his first start in goal and turned aside one shot in the loss.
Seton Hill battled top-ranked Charleston on Wednesday but suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Golden Eagles. Charleston scored a goal in each half and then held off any thoughts of a Griffin upset. Seton Hill was outshot, 24-5, with Austin Iddon stopping six shots in goal for the Griffins.
LAST MEETING
Last season, the Huskies shutout the Griffins, 1-0, in Seton Hill on September 19.
Samuel Izzo (Frankford, Del./Indian River) scored in the game's 62nd minute, which would end up being the only score Bloomsburg would need. The Huskies outshot Seton Hill, 8-5, with Bloomsburg goalkeeper
Jared Ott (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) stopping two shots.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Since winning their opening match against Felician, the Huskies have gone 0-4-1 in their last five contests. Offense has been a concern early as Bloomsburg has scored just four goals in six games this season. During the five-game winless streak, Bloomsburg has been outscored, 12-3, and has been shutout three times. Redshirt junior
Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) is Bloomsburg's leading scorer with three points on one goal and one assist. He leads the team with 14 shots and six shots on goal. Senior
Josh Smith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and sophomores
Ken Herrmann (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and
Clayton Newton (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) have scored the other goals. Freshman
Mike Bazadona (Courtdale, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) has an assist. In goal, redshirt junior
Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) has started five matches and is 1-3-1 with a 1.91 goals against average and a .783 save percentage. Redshirt sophomore
Taylor Lesage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) started the last match at Lock Haven and allowed two goals on three shots.Â
SCOUTING SETON HILL
Seton Hill started the season with a pair of victories over Wheeling Jesuit and Ohio Valley but have since lost three straight including a 2-0 loss to top-ranked Charleston on Wednesday. Like Bloomsburg, Seton Hill's offense has been slow out of the gates as it has scored only four goals in five games. Curtis Gallagher has scored two of the team's four markers while Joe Smith and Rory McKinnon have the others. Bailey McIntyre has an assist. Goalkeeper Austin Iddon has started all five games in goal and is 2-3 with a 1.39 goals against average and a .696 save percentage on the season.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will not play again until next Saturday, September 24 when they travel to California University of Pennsylvania for a 1:00 p.m. start time. The next time the men's soccer team will play at Steph Pettit stadium is Tuesday, September 28, for its match against Philadelphia University in a non-conference tilt. The scheduled start time for that match is 7:00 p.m.
