CALIFORNIA, PA—The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell to California (PA) University on Saturday by a score of 2-1.
Bloomsburg had the early scoring attempts in the game with
Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) getting two shots on goal in the first 20 minutes of play. His first shot was wide, while his second shot was stopped by Cal goalie Lucas Exner.
The Vulcans got their first shot goal in the 28
th minute on a header that hit the crossbar keeping the game scoreless. Later in the half Cal got on the board when Christian Flfetcher took a crossing pass from Mike Cummings and scored in the 37
th minute.
It stayed 1-0 into the second half when Bloomsburg tied the score on
Mike Bazadona (Courtdale, Pa./Wyoming Valley West)'s first career goal off an assist from
Seth Walter (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) in 66
th minute. Cal got what turned out to be the game winner in the 80
th minute when Anthony Papageorgiou scored off a Fletcher free kick.
Bloomsburg did have one final scoring chance, but Exner stopped
Brett Milden (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional)'s shot attempt in the 88
th minute.
The Huskies go to 1-6-1, 0-5-1 in the PSAC, while California is now 5-1-1, 2-1-1in the PSAC. The Huskies host Philadelphia on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
