HTML BOX SCORE

BLOOMSBURG—Four different players scored goals as the sixth-ranked Bloomsburg University field hockey team posted a 4-1 win over Mansfield University on Wednesday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium.

Before the game Bloomsburg University honored its faculty on Faculty Appreciation Day.

The Huskies dominated possession right from the start getting the first of their 16 penalty corners for the game just 4:44 into the contest. Bloomsburg got on the board in the 12th minute of play on one of those many penalty corners. Abby Sauder (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) put the ball into play sending it to Peyton Shockley (Milford, Del./Milford) on the left of the circle. Shockley then shot the ball with Erica Krebs (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) deflecting the ball past the Mansfield goalie for a 1-0 advantage.

It stayed that way until the 30:13 mark with nearly the exact same scenario happing. This time Sauder passed to Shockley whose shot attempt was deflected by Sam Peters (Harrisburg, Pa./Mifflin County) making it a 2-0 game at the half.

In the 45th minute of play the Huskies scored again on a penalty corner. Krebs delivered the ball to Eleanor Kirby (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) who dribbled the ball to the right side of the circle then drilled a hard shot to the right side of the cage for a 3-0 lead.

Mansfield came back and got a goal off a penalty corner in the 48 minute of action. Meghan Griffin scored off an Amber Prince assist to close the gap to 3-1.

Bloomsburg got its final goal in the 59th minute of the game when Peters passed to MacKenna Mahan (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) at the top of the circle for a direct shot past the Mansfield goalie.

Peters finished with a goal and an assist and now has team-high 12 points (5 goals-2 assists) for the year.

Bloomsburg improves to 8-2 on the year, 2-0 in the PSAC, while Mansfield falls to 1-8, 0-1 in the PSAC.

The Huskies play at East Stroudsburg on Oct. 4 at 4 p.m.
