STORYLINE
The Bloomsburg men's soccer team hosts PSAC-rivals Gannon University and Mercyhurst University as the Huskies look to get back in the win column. Bloomsburg has lost two straight since blanking Felician, 1-0, in the season opener on Thursday, September 1. Both the Golden Knights and the Lakers, meanwhile, are 1-1 to start the season. This will be the first conference match of the season for Gannon while the Huskies dropped their conference opener on Wednesday night at Millersville. Mercyhurst is scheduled to play its conference opener at West Chester on Friday afternoon.

Gannon leads the all-time series against Bloomsburg, 12-3, while Mercyhurst leads the all-time series against the Huskies, 15-1.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg enters the contest with a 1-2 overall record and an 0-1 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) standings. The Huskies won their season opener, 1-0, over Felician at Steph Pettit Stadium on Thursday, September 1, but have since dropped two straight and have not scored a goal in either match - at Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday, September 3 and the conference opener at #18 Millersville on Wednesday, September 7. Bloomsburg's only goal of the season came off of a penalty kick in the opener from redshirt junior
Austin Transue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy), who led the Huskies in scoring last season with 13 goals and four assists for 30 points. Transue was an All-PSAC First Team, an All-NSCAA Atlantic Region First Team, and an All-D2CCA Atlantic Region Second Team selection a year ago. Transue also leads the Huskies in shots (12) and shots on goal (5). Bloomsburg has been outshot, 53-36, and have been outcornered, 22-17, through the first three matches. Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Jacob Pesarcik (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) has started all three contests and has posted a 1.67 goals against average and an .815 save percentage.
SCOUTING GANNON
The Golden Knights enter the contest ranked eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Atlantic Regional poll. Gannon is 1-1 on the season, having lost to then-#2 Charleston, 1-0, before posting a 3-2 overtime victory over then-#20 Notre Dame College - both on the road. Hamza Mourchid leads Gannon in nearly every offensive category including goals (2), points (5), shots (9), shots on goal (6), and has scored the team's game-winning goal. Sergio Kobowane is the only other Golden Knight that has registered a point as he has chipped in one goal and one assist through two matches. Manuel Mangu has started both games in goal and has a 1.38 goals against average and a .786 save percentage.
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
The Lakers stand at 1-1 on the young season by securing a victory over then-#20 Notre Dame College (Ohio) on Thursday, September 1 before falling to then-#2 Charleston on Sunday, September 4. Mercyhurst saw freshman Jorge Gonzalez Asensi net his first career goal in the 64th minute to seal the Lakers' 2-1 victory over Notre Dame College. The Lakers are led by Mark Roche, Thom Derks, and Asensi who all share the team lead in goals by each netting one in the first two contests. Mercyhurst is led in net by sophomore Alex Brems. He has started both contests for the Lakers, recording 14 saves and posting a 2.50 goals against average.
UP NEXT
The Huskies head back on the road to take on Lock Haven University on Tuesday, September 13. Start time of that match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The Huskies will return home on Saturday, September 17 against Seton Hill at 2:30 p.m.
