LAST TIME OUT ...
Bloomsburg returned to its winning ways on Wednesday evening with a 62-54 victory at Lock Haven - the team's fourth win in the last five games. The Huskies led from start-to-finish as they built up an 16-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Freshman
Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) led the Huskies with a career-high 19 points on 9-of-11 from the field. Senior
Alex Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) added 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while freshman
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) returned to the starting lienup and chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds. The Huskies shot 47.3% from the field, but made 13-of-23 (56.5%) in the second half. Bloomsburg also held a slim, 36-34, edge in rebounding against one of the best rebounding teams in the conference. Madison McHale led Lock Haven with 17 points.
STARTING FIVE ...
1 - Points have been tough to come by this season. Bloomsburg has dropped to last in the PSAC, and 294th in the country, in points per game (54.8). The Huskies have been held to under 60 points in 13 of the 17 games this season - they scored 61 against Georgian Court and then scored 63 (seven in overtime) in a loss at Gannon. They posted 67 points at West Chester on December 30, a season-high 68 at Kutztown on January 18, and 62 at Lock Haven on Wednesday. The Huskies are 13th in the league in field goal percentage (38.2%), 14th in three-point percentage (26.6%), and 17th in free throw shooting (63.2%).
2 - On the flip side, the Huskies are, however, ranked sixth in the conference in scoring defense (61.9) and have limited opponents to under 70 points in a game 13 times. Over the last five games (four wins), the Huskies have allowed a total of 275 points (55.0 per game). Bloomsburg is sixth in the PSAC in both opponents' field-goal percentage (38.6%) and in opponents' three-point percentage (27.9%), and it ranks second in the league, 20th in the country, in blocks per game (4.8).
3 - Sophomore
Taylor Sneidman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) is developing into a solid contributor at point guard for the Huskies. Sneidman has started each of the last nine games for Bloomsburg and is averaging 30.7 minutes in those nine starts. In her first 26 career games with the Huskies, Sneidman scored a total of seven points on 2-of-31 from the field and 0-for-18 from long range. However, the slow start to her career is long gone - in her last ten games, Sneidman is averaging 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. She also leads the team in three-point accuracy (34.6%; 9-of-26).
4 - Senior
Morgan Klunk (Felton, Pa./York Catholic) is tops on the team in nearly every statistical category this season. She leads the team in scoring (11.9), rebounding (6.3), and steals (2.3), while tying for first in assists per game (2.6). She leads the team in total assists with 46. Klunk has moved into 12th place on the school's all-time list for career assists with 269. She needs nine helpers to tie Dana Wieller (2009-13) for 11th on the list. Klunk also needs 39 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone for her career.
5 - The Huskies have a very young roster that features only two seniors -
Morgan Klunk (Felton, Pa./York Catholic) and
Alex Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) - and no juniors. The rest of the 12-player roster is comprised of five sophomores, one redshirt freshman, and four true freshmen. One of the sophomores,
Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area), joins the team for the first time this season. Barber was an All-PSAC Second Team selection and an NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) All-Atlantic Region Third Team honoree for the Huskies' women's soccer team this fall.
THE SERIES ...
Bloomsburg leads the all-time series against Cheyney, 48-15.
LAST MEETING AGAINST CHEYNEY ...
Cheyney posted a 59-48 victory over Bloomsburg at the Nelson Field House on January 3. The Huskies were held to just 15 points in the first half and 27 points after three quarters before making things interesting in the fourth. Bloomsburg went on a 16-8 run at the outset of the fourth quarter to cut the Cheyney lead to 47-43 with 2:29 left. But the Lady Wolves scored the next six points and then iced the game by going 4-of-4 from the line in the closing seconds. Sophomore
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) led the Huskies with 17 points - 15 of which came on a career-high five three pointers. TaKayla Ellis led Cheyney with a game-high 19 points.

SCOUTING THE LADY WOLVES ...
Like Bloomsburg, Cheyney is heading in a positive direction. The Lady Wolves have won three of their last eight games, after starting 0-6, and are 3-11 overall and 3-11 in the PSAC Eastern Division. In their last game, the Lady Wolves took Millersville to overtime before falling by an 80-71 final on Wednesday night. Cheyney has scored at least 70 points in a game in three of their last five and has climbed to 16th in the PSAC in scoring offense (56.0). The Lady Wolves are 14th in the PSAC in scoring defense (70.3). TaKayla Ellis leads the team in scoring as she averages 11.0 points per game. She is also tops on the team in assists (2.8) and has hit 25 of the team's 49 three-pointers. Marlon Herring is also in double figures in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per contest. She has also brought down a team-high 106 rebounds (7.6 rpg) - 11th in the PSAC. Briana Hedgepeth is the only other player to have started all 14 games for the Lady Wolves this season. She averages 7.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. Quinniea Gross (7.6 ppg, 6.9 rpg), Taschell Phillips (5.6 ppg), Shania Stamper (4.8 ppg), and Adriene Small (4.3 ppg) have also started at least five games this season.
HEATING UP ...
Senior
Alex Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) has hit double figures in scoring in each of the last three games and is averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists during the stretch. Meanwhile, freshman
Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) is coming off of a career-high 19 points at Lock Haven at Wednesday and is averaging 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds over her last five games. She has hit 23-of-37 (62.2%) from the field during the stretch.
LOW SCORING ...
Bloomsburg comes into the contest having scored more than 60 points in a game only five times this season (61 at Georgian Court on November 26; 63 (seven in OT) at Gannon on December 4; 67 at West Chester on December 30; 68 at Kutztown on January 18; and 62 at Lock Haven on January 25) and is averaging only 54.8 points per game. The Huskies have dropped to last in the conference, and 294th in the country, in scoring offense this season.
DEE-FENSE ...
Despite the scoring woes, the Huskies have been in a number of games this season because they have been able to keep their opponents off the board. Bloomsburg's defense has allowed 70 or more points in a game only five times and has limited its opponents only 61.9 points per game. That figure is sixth-best in the PSAC. Over the last five games, in which Bloomsburg has gone 4-1, the Huskies have allowed a total of 275 points (55.0 per game). In fact, the team had not allowed more than 66 points in a game, before allowing 75 to East Stroudsburg last Saturday, since giving up a season-high 81 points at West Chester on December 30 (six straight games). Bloomsburg is sixth in the PSAC in both opponents' field-goal percentage (38.6%) and in opponents' three-point percentage (27.9%), and it ranks second in the league, 20th in the country, in blocks per game (4.8).
CLOSING IN ...
Senior
Morgan Klunk (Felton, Pa./York Catholic) continues to get closer to becoming the next player in program history to record 1,000 career points. With nine more points at Lock Haven on Wednesday, Klunk is now just 39 points away from the milestone and needs to average 4.9 points over the last eight games to hit the number - less if the Huskies get in the PSAC Tournament. She averages 9.2 points per game for her career. Klunk is also 12th in school history in career assists with 269.
EPIC COMEBACK ...
The Huskies trailed at Kutztown by 17 points with 6:56 left in regulation - 15 with 5:27 left - but outscored the Golden Bears, 21-2, in the final seven minutes to pull off a stunning 68-66 win on January 18. Senior
Morgan Klunk (Felton, Pa./York Catholic) carried the team on her back in the fourth quarter - she scored 12 of her game-high 20 points during the fourth quarter and had three of her career-best six steals in the final ten minutes. She was also 6-of-6 at the foul line in the fourth - 8-of-8 for the game.
BLOCK PARTY ...
The Huskies are second in the conference, and 20th in the country, in blocked shots per game (4.8). The Huskies have blocked at least four shots in 13 of the 18 games and have blocked ten shots in a game twice - against Chestnut Hill on November 22 and at Philadelphia on November 27. Senior
Alex Ross (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) has taken over the team lead as she averages 1.4 blocks per game - seventh in the PSAC. Freshman
Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) is tied for eighth in the league at 1.3 while freshman
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) is 12th as she averages 1.1 blocks per game. Montana, Ross, and Corridoni have combined for 66 of the team's 86 blocks.
UP NEXT ...
Bloomsburg returns home to host West Chester at the Nelson Field House on Wednesday, February 1. Start time is at 5:30 p.m. The Golden Rams won back on December 30 by an 81-67 final. The Huskies, however, still lead the series, 38-36.
