BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match Wednesday night (Oct. 18) to visiting No. 22 Millersville 2-0.
The two teams went to the half scoreless, with Millersville holding an 8-4 advantage in shots while the teams each had three corner kicks. Millersville had a slight edge in possession in the offensive end, but the Huskies defense along with goalkeeper
Taylor Lesage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) never backed down in the frame.
In the second half, the Huskies offense was able to push back and generate some pressure for the first few minutes. In the 60
th minute, a Bloomsburg infraction set up a direct free kick outside the box for Millersville's Chase Flickinger. Flickinger sniped his shot into the top left corner for his ninth of the season, giving the Marauders the lead. The visitors doubled their lead less than six minutes later when Dylan Fogerty fed Jacob Gosselin on a lead pass through the middle. Gosselin out-ran the Huskies defense and beat Lesage one-on-one for his ninth of the campaign.
Bloomsburg registered eight shots as a team in the contest, with
Thomas King (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) and
Samuel Izzo (Frankford, Del./Indian River) each recording two.
Mike Bazadona III (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West),
Anthony Cerda (Budd Lake, N.J./Mount Olive),
Carter Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Central York) and
Brett Milden (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) also fired shots on the night. Lesage made five saves in net.
The Huskies hit the road on Saturday (Oct. 21) to battle California (Pa.) in conference action. Kickoff for that match is slated for 3:00 p.m.
