BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's soccer team downed Pitt-Johnstown 4-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Saturday afternoon (Oct. 21).
Bloomsburg started the scoring in the sixth minute when
Rachel Yenney (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) found space along the far wing of the goal line. Staying to the outside toeing the end line, the senior beat her defender and then Pitt-Johnstown keeper Maria Mosquera for her fourth of the season. The Huskies kept up the offensive pressure in the next few minutes, when Yenney found
Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area) who scored her fourth of the year in the 10
th minute to give BU a quick 2-0 lead.
The Huskies took their two-goal lead to the half, holding a 9-1 edge in shots as well as a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks at the break.
BU played the same style of pressure offense in the second half, scoring in the 61
st minute on
Jessica Supp (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge)'s second of the season.
Natalie Holmes (Laurel, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and
Lauren Hoelke (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) worked together to advance the ball down the wing, before Hoelke sent the ball into the box. Holmes deflected the ball to Supp in close, who stashed it home for BU's third goal. 37 seconds later, it was
Erin Bielski (York, Pa./Century (Md.)) scoring her third of the season from Supp and Barber to make it 4-0 Bloomsburg in the 62
nd minute.
The Mountain Cats responded 20 seconds later to get on the board on Abby LaDuke's third of the season.
As a team, BU out-shot UPJ 28-4, including 14-1 in shots on goal. Bloomsburg also held a 11-2 advantage in corner kicks. Three players (Barber, Yenney and Supp) each recorded one goal and one assist apiece, while Bielski, Hoelke and Holmes each recorded helpers. Mackenzie Gebhard also registered five shots, putting four of them on frame.

Jenna Hawkins (Hamburg, Pa./Fleetwood) (8-4-2) earned the win in 78 minutes between the pipes, before giving way to
Olivia Schantz (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) for the final 12 minutes.
The Huskies (9-4-2, 8-4-2 PSAC) are back at home on Wednesday (Oct. 25) for Senior Day when they host No. 2 Kutztown in a crucial PSAC contest. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Bloomsburg's Steph Pettit Stadium.
