PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University men's soccer team fell in non-conference action at Jefferson University on Monday (Oct. 23) 5-1.
The Rams scored quickly to open the match, with Musa Kalombe setting up Rashaan Robe in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Rams kept up the offensive pressure, scoring again in the 20
th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Jason Mendez set up Jason Rocha on the goal.
Brian Kilcoyne (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) broke through for his second of the year in the 22
nd minute to get BU on the board, off of
Carter Luckenbaugh (York, Pa./Central York)'s ninth assist of the season. A Jefferson infraction set up Luckenbaugh's free kick, which Kilcoyne deflected past the keeper who had come out of the net to make a play. Jefferson scored 27 seconds later for Robe's second of the match, this time assisted by Myles-Jordan Senior-Campbell. The quick rushes kept on coming, on Rocha scored his second of the match unassisted in the 26
th minute to give Jefferson a 4-1 lead. The home team took the 4-1 lead to the half.
The Rams scored again in the 88
th minute to make it 5-1.
Bloomsburg tallied 11 shots on the day, putting five on goal. The Huskies also totaled four corner kicks in the match. Kilcoyne paced the offense with three shots, putting two on frame.
Mike Bazadona III (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) registered two shots, putting one on net.
Brett Milden (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) and
Samuel Izzo (Frankford, Del./Indian River) each also recorded two, while
Anthony Cerda (Budd Lake, N.J./Mount Olive) and Evan Norian each fired one.
Taylor Lesage (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) made three saves in net.
The Huskies take the pitch again on Wednesday (Oct. 25) when they travel to Molloy for another non-conference contest. Kickoff for that match is slated for 4:00 p.m.
