STORYLINE
The Huskies continue their non-conference slate on Wednesday (Nov. 15) when they travel to Philadelphia to take on nationally-ranked University of the Sciences.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg is 5-0 all-time against the Devils.
LAST MEETING
The Huskies defeated the Devils 62-61 back on Nov. 29, 2015 at Bloomsburg's Nelson Field House.
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) recorded seven points and
Marissa Molnar (Erie, Pa./McDowell) chipped in three.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies completed play at the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament on Sunday (Nov. 12), defeating Livingstone 73-47. As a team, Bloomsburg shot 44.8 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from downtown and 16-27 (59.3 percent) from the charity stripe. For the second straight game, the Huskies held their opponents to shooting under 30 percent from the floor. BU won the battle on the boards 47-37, including 32-22 on the defensive end. Every Husky on the roster scored in the win. Mack and
Darcy Lee (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) led the Huskies in scoring with 12 each, while Molnar added nine and
Taylor Montana (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) chipped in eight.
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) contributed six, while
Taylor Sneidman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored five. Three Huskies scored four-apiece (
Amanda Arellano (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel),
Megan Brandt (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and
Lauren Oeth (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy)), while Marianna Moaldonado scored three.
Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) and
Payton Spadaccino (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock South) also got on the scoresheet with two. On the glass, Brandt pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Spadaccino had the hot hand in the contest, dishing out a team-high four assists. Saxton and
Leah Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) each also tallied three assists in the win.
The Devils defeated Le Moyne 73-67 back on Saturday (Nov. 11). Led by double-figure scoring from Nicole Riddick (22 points), Colleen Corcoran (15 points) and McKayla Roberts with 12 points, University of the Sciences rallied from a 43-39 halftime deficit and a 53-51 deficit after three quarters. In the fourth, University of the Sciences out-scored Le Moyne 20-9 to secure the come-from-behind victory.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies are currently sixth in the league in scoring (71.0 PPG), while being fourth in the league in scoring defense (60.0 PPG).
Alyssa Mack (Walnutport, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic)'s 13.0 scoring average leads the team, and is also 19
th in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Both Montana and Corridoni each average 9.5 points per game, along with Lee adding 8.5 points per game as well. Through two games, Bloomsburg ranks fifth in the league in rebounding, averaging 45.0 boards per game. The Huskies are also sixth in the league in rebounding margin at +3.5. Brandt and Corridoni lead the team in rebounds per game with an average of 5.5. Saxton leads the team with eight assists on the year, while three other Huskies have recorded five. Montana and Myers each also average 5.0 rebounds per game. Sneidman leads the team in minutes per game with 25.0, along with four other Huskies who have averaged at least 20 minutes per game.
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF THE SCIENCES
University of the Sciences comes into the matchup ranked 23
rd in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll and 16
th in the D2SIDA Media Preseason poll. The defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champion Devils have two of the top five scorers in the league, led by Jordan Vitelli dropping 20.0 points per game (1
st) and Alex Thomas who is pouring in 16.5 points per game as well (4
th). Vitelli's 55.0 field goal percentage is fourth in the league, while her 50.0 percent from beyond the arc is fifth in the conference. Currently, the team is second in the CACC in scoring, averaging 69.0 points per game. The team's 35.2 percent shooting from the field ranks fifth in the league. The Devils also rank fifth in the league in scoring defense, giving up 61.5 points per game.
