BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Bloomsburg University head football coach Paul Darragh has announced his 2017 football recruiting class. The Huskies will welcome 30 new players to the program for the upcoming season.
 
"We are very excited about this year's class," said Darragh. "We feel that we created depth at a number of positions that we thought we had a need in. The potential of these young student-athletes, both on the field and in the classroom, and along with our returning veterans, leads us to believe that there is a bright future ahead for Huskies' football."
 
Of the incoming recruits, only one comes from outside the state of Pennsylvania (New York). Eighteen of the 30 newcomers were recruited to play on the defensive side of the ball while 11 are slated to be on offense. The Huskies also signed a punter to help soften the blow of losing senior, and four-year starter, Will Wagner (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) to graduation.
 
The Huskies concluded the 2016 regular season with a 6-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the PSAC Eastern Division. It marked the 18th consecutive winning season for the program dating back to the 1999 campaign.
 
Bloomsburg is scheduled to open the 2017 campaign on Saturday, September 2 against Stonehill at Redman Stadium.
