Softball Drops Season Opener to Lincoln Memorial

Hartsville, S.C. – On Saturday afternoon, the Bloomsburg University softball team dropped its season opener to Lincoln Memorial University by a score of 17-1, in five innings.

The Lady Railsplitters jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first inning, and never looked back, getting four runs in the third, four in the fourth, and two in the fifth inning.

The Huskies got their lone run on the board in the third inning when junior Maggie Hall (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) hit a solo home run; the second of her career.

Along with Hall, juniors, Bridget Casey (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and Emily Mayhew (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) recorded their first hits of the season.

The Huskies look to rebound tonight when they face King University at 7:00 p.m. If the Huskies come out victorious, it will be the 200th career win for head coach, Susan Kocher.
