Hartsville, S.C. - The Bloomsburg University softball team evened up its' record to 2-2 as it blanked Fairmont State, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon.Taylor Parker (Dewart, Pa./Warrior Run) picked up her first win of the season, as she tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout, while striking out eight batters.
Emily Mayhew (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) went 2-for-4 and scored a run, while Kelsey impink continued her strong play by recording two hits and two RBI.
The Huskies opened the scoring in the top of the third inning as they loaded the bases before Impink drew a walk to score Natalie Quinlan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby).
In the following inning, Taylor Winkelman (Springfield, Pa/Springfield) set up the next Bloomsburg run by singling and then stealing second and third base. Mallory Tomaschik (Catawissa, Pa./Southern Columbia) then grounded out to third, but was able to drive Winkelman in.
The Huskies would add two more insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks to RBI doubles by Impink and Winkelman.
Bloomsburg will be back in action on March 11, when they play Shepherd University 12 p.m. That game, along with three others that weekend, will take place in Salem, W.Va., as part of the Salem International Tournament.
