Tampa, Fla. - The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team used eight second half goals to come from behind and defeat the University of Tampa, 10-9, on Wednesday evening.
Sydney Collins (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) led the way once again, scoring three goals and adding two assists. Kirsten Wozniak (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional) and Cailyn Gormley (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) each added two goals and one assist, as the Huskies moved to 3-1 on the season.
Collins put the Huskies on the board first with a goal just 70 seconds into the game, but the Spartans responded with four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead midway through the first half.
Collins tallied her second score of the game off of an assists from Wozniak to cut the deficit to 4-2, but the Spartans added three more goals to take a 7-2 advantage heading into the break.
Wozniak and Gormley came out firing to start the second half, each registering a free position goal in the first nine minutes to make it a 7-4 contest.
Tampa saw Carly Vaccaro put one in the back of the net to push the Spartans' lead to 8-4 with 20:40 remaining, but that would be the last time Tampa would score for over 19 minutes.
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) and Brigid Kyne (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) got on the board with respective goals at the 16:39 and 15:48 marks to pull the Huskies within two goals.
A little over two minutes later, Collins notched her third goal of the game to make it 8-7 in favor of the Spartans, and Wozniak's free position goal with 9:41 remaining tied the game for the first time since the 22:38 mark of the first half.
The two teams played scoreless for the next 2:42, until Erin Boulger (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) fired a shot past the goalie to give Bloomsburg the lead. It was Boulger's third goal of the season.
Gormley added another goal at the 3:58 mark to push the Huskies' lead to 10-8.
Tampa would score with 1:09 remaining, making it a 10-9 contest, but the Bloomsburg defense would force a turnover out of the faceoff and run out the clock.

The Huskies will now travel back up north, and head to Shippensburg University for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest, on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
