Huskies Fall to ESU, 12-9, in Wednesday Afternoon PSAC Contest

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team saw it two-game winning streak snapped, with a 12-9 loss at East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Huskies drop to 4-2 (1-1 PSAC), while the Warriors move to 5-0 (1-0 PSAC) on the season.

Brigid Kyne (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) and Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) each tallied three goals, while Sydney Collins (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) notched two scores for Bloomsburg. Lauren Green led the way with four goals for the Warriors.

East Stroudsburg jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 5:56 of the game, thanks to goals from Lauren Green, Brooke Fritz (2x) and Chessie Rahmer.

Collins would stop the bleeding and put Bloomsburg on the board with a score at the 22:19 mark, but the Warriors would respond with four more goals to push their advantage to 8-1 with 10:18 left in the first half.

Jaskuta would fire one past the goalie to make in it an 8-2 game, and was followed by ESU's Emily Fitzsimmons, who would score a goal with 4:03 left to give the Warriors a 9-2 advantage heading into the break.

Bloomsburg came out firing to start the second half, with Kyne and Collins scoring two quick goals to cut the deficit to five. However, the Warriors would respond with two goals of their own to push their lead back to seven, 11-4, with 20 minutes remaining.

The Huskies would then go on a tear, scoring five of the next six goals to make it 12-9 in favor of ESU with just under three minutes remaining. During the run, Jaskuta and Kyne added two more goals, while Tracy Rusen (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) also found the back of the net for the first time on the afternoon.

That would be as close as Bloomsburg would get however, as they were unable to trim the deficit anymore in the final minutes of the contest.

For the game, East Stroudsburg outshot Bloomsburg, 29-22, and won the draw control battle, 15-8.
