Women's Lacrosse Pulls Out Comeback Win Over Edinboro

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team saw seven different players score in an 11-10, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win over Edinboro on Saturday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium.

With the victory, the Huskies improved to 5-2 (2-1 PSAC), while the Fighting Scots fell to 1-5 (0-2 PSAC) on the season.

GAME RECAP

Erin Boulger (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area), Sydney Collins (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill), Cailyn Gormley (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Tracy Rusen (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) each scored two goals to help guide Bloomsburg to its' third win in the last four games. Additionally, Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area), Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West) and Lindsey Coyle (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) score a goal each on the afternoon.

The two teams played a competitive first eight minutes, with neither side able to get on the board, until Rusen put one past the goalie for her second goal of the season.

Edinboro responded with two goals in the next six minutes to take a 2-1 lead with 15:25 to play in the first half.

Boulger tied the game in the 18th minute off of an assist from Kyne, but the Fighting Scots would again respond with two goals. Edinboro would take a 4-3 lead into the break after Coyle put one past the goalie with 2:37 remaining in the half.

Bloomsburg would come out firing in the second half, netting four straight goals to give itself a 7-4 advantage with 23:46 left in the game.

However, the Fighting Scots would not go away quietly, as they answered by scoring five of the next six goals to take a 9-8 lead with just under 13 minutes left in the second half.

Turner took a pass from Jaskuta and tied the game, 9-9, with 9:11 to play, and Rusen's second goal of the day just three minutes later gave the Huskies the lead for good. Collins would add an insurance goal with 1:36 to play, and Edinboro made it a one-goal contest with 54 seconds left, but the Husky defense would hold up and help preserve the victory.

In goal, Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) tallied seven saves to earn the win, while Bloomsburg as a team outshot Edinboro, 36-21.
