WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at West Chester University on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies dropped to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) standings. The Golden Rams improved to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.
West Chester took a 3-0 advantage after doubles action. Sophomore
Siena Cerra (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and junior
Catherine Garrity (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) put up the biggest fight for the Huskies at #2 doubles but ultimately fell, 8-4, to West Chester's duo of Rylee Power and Gracyn Towler.
The Golden Rams then won all six singles matches in straight sets. Cerra went to a first-set tiebreaker against Stephanie Cifarelli but lost 7-6 (4), 6-1, as West Chester completed the singles' sweep.
Bloomsburg will be back in action on Wednesday, April 5, when it hosts East Stroudsburg University in a PSAC matchup at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
