BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Friday afternoon with a 5-0 loss to Mercyhurst University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) semifinals at the Burt Reese Tennis Center. The Huskies finish the season with a 6-7 overall record while the Lakers move on to the championship match on Saturday morning, against IUP, with a 17-1 mark on the year.

In doubles action, Bloomsburg won just five total points in the three matches. Freshmen Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) and Vitoria Nery (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Educandário Santa Maria Goretti) suffered an 8-2 loss at #1 while senior Anna Newcomer and junior Catherine Garrity (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) dropped an 8-2 decision at #2. Meanwhile, in singles, only Garrity managed a point in the two matches that were completed as she fell to Mercyhurst's Adrianna Jeffress in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.

Nery played well at #2 singles against Mercyhurst's Kayla Frost. Nery defeated Frost in the first set, 6-2, but was trailing 3-0 in the second set. However, the match went unfinished after the Lakers reached the decisive five points on the afternoon.
