Indiana, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team fell to #20 IUP, 9-8, in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic (PSAC) contest on Saturday.
With the loss, the Huskies drop to 7-5 (4-4 PSAC), while the Crimson Hawks move to 6-4 (5-1 PSAC) on the season.
Freshman Cailyn Gormley (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) opened the scoring for the game with a goal off of an assist from senior Brigid Kyne (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) less than three minutes into the contest.
IUP would take over from there, and score the next five goals, including two by Ally Burrows and Adriana Greco, to take a 5-1 lead at the 13:41 mark of the first half.
The two teams would trade shots over the next nine minutes, before Kim Hooven put a shot past Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) to extend the Crimson Hawks' lead to 6-1 with under four minutes left in the half.
Coming out of the break, Bloomsburg scored three goals in the first eight minutes to cut the deficit to 6-4, as Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West), Kyne and Danielle Ward (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Township) all found the back of the net for the Huskies.
Less than five minutes later, Erin Boulger (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) scored to make it a 6-5 contest. IUP would score three of the next four goals to bring its' lead to 9-6, with 1:44 left in the contest.
Bloomsburg had one last rally in it, as Kyne and Turner scored in the final 1:09 to pull within one goal, but would not be able to tie the game in the waning seconds.
For the game, the Huskies outshot IUP, 23-15, but the Crimson Hawks held a 14-4 advantage in draw controls.
